I think that may be the wrong question to ask, I think the better question to ask is whether the premium price at CarMax is worth the relatively low hassle experience versus another used car dealer.

That’s not true, I’ve lived in towns with laws against turning your yard into a junkyard, no hoa required. There’s a reasonable limit to things, then there’s an HOA.
That’s why I moved into a house next to a graveyard. All my neighbors are dead and never complain about anything.

C/R really needs to split this category into functional reliability and convenience reliability. There is a huge different between your car not starting in the morning and your infotainment interface crashing and requiring you to turn the car off and back on again to fix.
