OnStar was/is a subscription service, but like satellite radio it is up to the end user to purchase the functionality. It's really no more of a money grab than GM charging for OnStar. If you want Autopilot and it's connectivity, pay for it (like an app).

I still think Tesla will make the used car buyer pay for access to the Autopilot system (and any download capable updates), much like GM with OnStar. The car may be equipped with it, but that doesn't automatically give you access to it.

Possible, but unlikely I believe. If you're buying a Tesla on the used car market, there's a high probability you'll find a work-around (hack) instead of paying for the activation - and Tesla WILL charge you for the activation.

Same. Own a Hemi Ram, wife got an EB Expedition as a rental. My God the difference! Much better power and mileage. I had to see it for myself to believe it. It won't be long before FCA and GM are doing the same thing....

This. My son and I replaced the a/c fan assembly on my ‘04 Ram this past weekend with their video. Gonna do the shocks on it and his F-150 thanks to them. The clips are a little dry, but informative and well shot.
