Okay, THAT is clever.

I don’t like the s-word in general either — I always feel self-conscious when I say it. But it bothers me less on its own than it does followed by “on.”

Maybe, but I feel like it's been used a lot more often in the last couple years. Or maybe it just started bothering me, idk.

I’m do glad I wasn’t the only one thinking this. The massive hypocrisy on his part is gross, and you could argue the power dynamic is gross no matter whether she was into it or not, but the sexts themselves are pretty mild as such things go.

Am I the only one who’s really bothered by the current trend toward saying someone who treated someone/something else badly “shit on” them? I always get this deeply unfortunate mental image of what the metaphor literally implies, and it is not something I need in my life.

I wonder if the problem wasn’t so much the upper back/shoulders, but that it looks like the cut of her dress showed her entire bra straps (scroll down to see the photo)? I mean, dress codes are stupid and sexist, etc., but “don’t show your underwear” strikes me as a fairly basic and gender-neutral rule.

Yeah, my biggest issue is that they had the kids sign off on following the dress code and didn’t tell them right there and in large letters what the dress code was. They had to know a lot of evening gowns wouldn’t be dress code-compliant. (Another reason dress codes are sexist: There’s literally no reason a boy would

Apparently Bush I had some longtime “assistant” a lot of people believed was his mistress. The woman admits they were close friends but says that was it.

Yeah, that’s a valid argument.

Seriously, the internet? Yes, if you’re a smart individual you can find a lot of great, reliable information. I’m not disputing that at all. But if you aren’t, you’re going to fall into a vortex of porn and come out more confused than you went in.

It’s tempting, but no. My understanding is that even strict abstinence-only programs at least tell you what birth control is —even if they then lie and say it doesn’t work and having sex makes you a diseased slut, or whatever. But there are kids who don’t have a trustworthy mature adult presence in their lives. For

They make me uncomfortable as a white person, but I suspect that’s part of what she’s trying to do. The historical claim that NO OTHER CULTURE EVER had the same type of slavery strikes me as unlikely, but I don’t have sources to the contrary. (And also, how many times have white writers made unsupported claims about

Honestly I think the creepiest thing here is the helicopter mom.

Did it really take you four sentences to reveal the salient fact that somebody else shot him and not the other way around?

It sounds like there were literally three or four days when her schedule was disrupted, and the family gets a kick out of having her photos around. I don't see it as that much of a hassle.

I wish I had enough faith in my gender to think you were right. Men might often be behind the worst of the worst, but women can and do threaten all kinds of horrible things. (This is a particularly horrible example, but go on Tumblr sometime, find a random argument, and see how long it takes one teenage girl to tell

Same. I don’t care enough that you hate a random piece of clothing to read this many words devoted to it, even if the words ultimately reveal that you are in fact making fun of people who use many many words to say they hate a random article of clothing. (Which isn’t exactly such a massive genre that it begged for

My college best friend was a Lauren Andrea and I always thought that was gorgeous. She’s 35ish now.

I’m confused. If people were voting on the monkey’s name for a month, isn’t it a coincidence that they chose the same name as Will and Kate did? Or am I misreading?

Booze, probably. Three or four mixed drinks could be $30 easy.
