Anecdotally, my group of gaming friends is mostly women, and we were super hype for it (embarrassingly, I’ve been a bit busy and I have it installed but haven’t played it yet). I kinda wonder what the gender breakdown is for hype

I mean, as someone who is a gay WoC, I actually really hate the fact that games in general seem content to just literally excise any form of communication these days, relying on the fact that ‘oh players will just join their friends’ discord’.

A lot of the voice acting is redone to remove accents, and Jennifer Hale’s work as Naomi Hunter is noticeably droll and phoned in in Twin Snakes. This is a shame because some of the VA performances in MGS1 are *still*the best in any video game ever.

There’s always some issues, but this was pretty extreme. I guess part of the blame can be put on a new venue in a new city (all previous TIs were in Seattle, this is Vancouver), but that’s sort of a weak excuse when you look at the money and size of the event.

It’s a good analogy, and as someone who has been playing DotA for years - long before Valve ever laid a finger on it, I always worry about what will happen on that year when the prize pool doesn’t reach the year before.
