A lot of other people are going to tell you about all the other stuff like controversies, lack of updates and such, talent exodus, so on and so on. And those are all big parts of it. I did have a major gripe that I’ve seen some former OW Pros talk about too.

There are no trans women, anywhere, trampling on the rights of cisgender women. All your equivocating about ‘complicated’, ‘possible’, ‘for most,’ ‘not that of every woman’ is dancing around you actually stating what you mean.

I’m a ‘biological woman’ and I am more than capable of identifying people who never have had a care for women, especially marginalized women, suddenly become Defenders of Women when they can weaponize it against others.

‘AAPI’ lmao

Calling KotOR2's plot garbage, even allowing for subjectivity, is a huge leap. KotOR2's story is stellar - amazing even, one of the best in a franchise that has a LOT of stories and one of the best in video games. Which isn’t terribly surprising, considering the story came from a team that is responsible for some of

KOTOR2 is easily one of the most original and thoughtful pieces of Star Wars media.

Sleeping Dogs was a (heh) Sleeper Hit, a fairly small scale game that wildly exceeded expectations and then the studio was cratered, and when they broke up, there was talk from the folks at UGO about how Square had target numbers that were like, Call of Duty level, FIFA level numbers for games like Tomb Raider, just

we lesbians r broke its true :(

The culture is very misogynistic, even by East Asian standards in some categories. You know how Fox News or Sky News will rant and rave and panic about immigrants and critical race theory? Korean right wing basically replaced all that with Feminism, so it has had years of stories about how Feminists Will Kill Your

Pornography is largely restricted and regulated and tucked away in Korea, so you have some wildly horny games and media and stuff that can really feed off repressed folks, is my theory.

South Korea’s dominant culture is wildly misogynistic. A culture can be misogynistic. South Korea’s is especially bad right now because their reactionary movement has made feminists their bogeymen they way other countries’ reactionaries have done the same with Muslims, immigrants, etc.

You really can’t turn this around into ‘perhaps it is u who are petty’ - the guy gleefully harassed and targeted minorities, and much of his anguish was that his website matured (to a degree) while he didn’t. The Something Awful website bankrolled his entire lifestyle even as he grifted and complained server costs

Something Awful produced a wild amount of humor and culture for decades and had a massively outsized influence for a long time. It was a place where I learned a lot about writing, about politics and some other things.

Sort of makes it really awkward that there’s like 50 NPCs and quest lines in WoW named after him

Trying to play GTA5 forced me to get an SSD to try and cut down load times because they were so extreme. Imagine my surprise when it didn’t change load times at all.

it is really amazing how you think ‘marginalized communities are systematically brutalized by law enforcement’ is the propaganda and not ‘hey, did you know? cops are actually color blind when it comes to shooting people’

Because Stadia was never about making games. It was never about creating a product and selling it to users for a profit. That isn’t how these markets work.

Glad of it - not going to lie, I hope for the failure to be as big and spectacular as possible. I realize cloud gaming has found niches on some other platforms, but I still feel like Cloud Gaming is a direct ticket to a more tightly controlled content market, another ‘walled garden’ of tech, that will ultimately be

It is an entertaining game, looks nice

There was plenty to dislike about TLOU2 that had nothing to do with crunch.  Like, if you want to go back and read Riley’s review of it, the problems had almost nothing to do with external factors like crunch.  The game is droll and miserable gamer-angst
