Kind of interesting. Most of my eSports attention is just on DotA these days, but there are quite a few top players who started playing in majour tournaments as young as 15. Arteezy, Sumail, Era, Resolut1on, Sylar, all name a few. Kuroky was at Dota 1 tournaments at 14.

Fallacy of relative privation or the ‘darfur orphan argument’ is dumb, don’t do it. Also lol if you think there aren’t whole communities of LGBT people in every single country on earth regardless of developmental status struggling to survive, be safe, and be achieve full rights.

What’s your point about Ted Turner and Atlanta?

Always been a big fan of yours, but my respect and appreciation has been getting deeper lately. Thanks.

Congrats to Liquid, but not remotely the Grand Finals I hoped for. After some amazing games in this tournament, and some amazing plays, this final day was so bereft of that. Game 2 of LFY vs. Liquid was the only really contested match, and even then, it was only contested in that LFY made it close after falling

This should be the top comment. I was very ho hum about Another Card Game like most of the comments, but this sort of stuff actually sounds like it might have some interesting and new ideas, maybe.

Valve has always paid out in full, what’s your suggestion here, that Gabe Newell is going to pocket the prize pool?

Counterpoint: Blizzard should write Icefrog and Eul and the other dota devs a huge check, because for years, the huge sales of Frozen Throne were for the massive Chinese, Southeast Asian and Russian DotA playerbase. DotA was the estimated most played game in the world for a long time.

Having played HotS... Nope, not really. The map is pretty diverse and the objectives take on variable importance depending on your lineup or theirs. Some drafts really rely on Roshan, others don’t. Some make use of other areas better than others, but in general, the game is really tight about positioning, engagements

Easily the highlight of my day. Boboka and XXS are some of the very best and most fun players to watch, and Burning is a living legend who has been playing Dota professionaly almost as long as there’s been a pro scene. So glad to see success for them, and in such disgustingly awesome games

I used to play with pflax before he got all famous. :(. Part of it is that the game was the progenitor of the genre and was built from the skeleton of Warcraft 3, and a lot of mechanics carried over, or were reinvented in some weird way. LoL was purpose-built from the get-go as a MOBA, already knowing what it wanted

i’ll spoil it for you: ‘kappa’

pretty sure a doughy white upper middle class swedish memelord isn’t being looked at by trump policies

They had been making the same joke on the panel, haha

“I also slept a lot better at night knowing he had Senate oversight of what the administration might try to do with the military, especially if Mattis finds himself on the wrong side of Trump and out of a job. That being gone shortly is a loss for the country regardless of where you stand.”

I’m pretty sure McCain has a lot more blood on his hands than that Kinja poster ever will. Please don’t jerk McCain off as a Great Man because he has cancer (and all those times he told the New York Times he was ‘really concerned’ about something).

As someone else put it, he sacrificed a lot for this country. Including lots of other people’s sons. It isn’t ‘political bullshit.’ Plenty of people literally have died on account of his war mongering, his inability to take a stand on basically any of the healthcare debates (and ultimately deciding to be counted on

I’m chill, the guy is just wrong though - there’s nothing about a pro player buying a compendium that clouds competition.

Okay, but being bribed to take a dive and settle for a lower tier of winnings is not remotely influenced by contributing to the prize pool - there’s no factor that tweaks the calculation in one way or the other. Being paid on the spread, likewise, has nothing to do with the prize pool contribution.

Again, that makes no sense. Where is the incentive for any team to manipulate their performance in any way other than ‘do better, win as much as you can’. There’s no alternate incentive created. Finishing better will always be better, and since it’s a ratio, always by exactly as much as it was before. There’s no
