I sort of feel like it would be more interesting to have him fully powered with his identity exposed. How does he deal with being Superman all the time, when he can’t retreat into being Clark Kent? How does it work for all the people in Clark Kent’s life being exposed to all the weirdness of Superman’s cosmic enemies

Blizzard fans have already shown willingness to throw piles of money at their products, but I’m guessing that Blizzard might want to hold off on that for a first big deal. Work up to a bigger and bigger thing.

Kotaku doesn’t really do DotA until they absolutely have to, so expect a post like the day of the grand finals with a link to the twitch stream.

I mean, Carter literally started his own Baptist church because the Southern Baptist church wouldn’t acknowledge women as equals.

I played LoL pretty solidly for 2 years and still play it off and on. I’ve played DotA for what... 7 years with some gaps. HoN for awhile. Given Smite and HotS a whirl. It isn’t like I’m making shit up. Mobas or whatever you want to call them, are kinda my thing - I really like the potential for the genre creating

Yeah, comparing things is dumb and not at all one of the most valid tools for analysis we possess!!!

I sort of share the opinion. Deconstructing is a second or third step. Show what you can build first. If you’re going to deconstruct, don’t start with Black Panther or Captain Marvel, who basically need to be constructed for audiences first. You have to stick the landing.

I already gave my money to Bloodstained but... Castlevania is so great, and it is also so much more than just SotN, as great as that game was. I was really excited that the concept art for Bloodstained’s main character resembles Shanoa so much, because I hope it indicates where they’re taking some cues from. OoE was

I think LoL can do some things better without being a DotA clone. I think it could be more like DotA in a very particular way - a way that I feel DotA does better.

If they really didn’t want people to eat them, then they should have made them taste like peppermint.

Almost, but not. I think the decision by Riot to close off/gate large portions of the champion pool inherently leads to overlapping design and strictly enforced roles.

About the biggest compliment I give to the game’s design is that I’ve played the game for seven years and it never feels like I’ve played the same match twice.

If it had 110 members, it wouldn’t be ‘rock paper scissors.’ Nor did I say *anything* about ‘countering.’

I’m suggesting the opposite. I’m suggesting that roles shouldn’t be so strict - each champ should be able to fill multiple roles, in their own way, and open up new ways of playing the game. Their differences should be more pronounced. One champ shouldn’t play much like another.

I played back then too. Good/bad news. A lot of champs now overlap and fulfill the same roles, there’s pretty much the same amount of strategies. I guess it’s good, because you don’t *need* to unlock lots of champs. But bad because... well... the game would be better with more variety and if more champs were different

There are certain problems League of Legends is always going to have simply because it’s so gigantic at this point. Simply having tons of playable characters, for instance, will scare off newcomers simply because it makes the scale of the game seem intimidating in and of itself. So I can’t say for certain that, say,

Not needing access to champions is a sign of bad design/overlapping roles or bland functionality. It shouldn’t be a plus that ‘you don’t need access to all the characters.’

No shit. I played WC3, and DotA 1, a lot. What’s your point?

With a little bit of Meepo. But yeah, the whole ‘other MOBAs cost so much money!! Creative hero design that no one else has ever heard of!!!’ feels like “I haven’t actually played some of these other games, just LoL.”

Lancasters and Yorks, Lannisters and Starks, etc. The Red Wedding was based off the Black Dinner and/or the Glencoe Massacre. And just about everything that isn’t magic (and even some that are) have pretty direct historic parallels (Battle of the Blackwater possibly based off the Battle of Red Cliff, for instance).
