A Day At The Space-Horse Races
As someone who’s a lot more familiar with U2 than REM, this new podcast felt like a bit of a step backward. Obviously it doesn’t matter that much because it’s less about the music and more about the Scotts goofing around. But I’d love for them to take a break for a few months and come back with a show about a new…
I’ve enjoyed the first few episodes of It Could Happen Here, a podcast from Robert Evans speculating about how a second American Civil War might come about.
And a nice (certainly unintentional) parallel to how Marcia Lucas single-handedly saved the original movie in the editing booth.
I mean no disrespect to William Hughes, who does a fine job writing for this site, but good Goddamn this makes me miss Sean O’Neal.
I’m pretty tired and cynical about the never-ending barrage of giant-budget effects driven movies, but I don’t think we should be so quick to write off Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman. Sure, they are products created by giant corporations to make money, and no, they don’t contribute any brilliant insight to the…
This just makes me want to hear Mufasa say “I know it’s pretty, baby, but I didn’t take it out for air.”
“What do you mean, ‘you think?’ You’re God! I don’t understand the rules to this!”
God, the looks that pass through Thor’s face in that moment are so perfect. The brief “oh crap” panic, the almost immediate relief when Cap lets go, the pivot to laughing it off. Chris Hemsworth really is fantastic.
Oh damn.
Not to mention the insane notion that a career CIA man would decide to help the secret futuristic African superpower rather than steal their tech and try to overthrow T’Challah and replace him with a US-approved right wing dictator at the first opportunity.
Okay, I’ll bite. What’s an avenger?
You really need to watch The Terror.
Fuck her. She’d love Trump if he pushed all the same policies and appointed all the same ghouls if he just spoke with a little more dignity and only insulted people who aren’t directly related to her.
Both of the stills in this review look like absolute dog shit. That shot of the Dreamland gates might as well be Coruscant in Attack of the Clones. Just a messy plastic CGI shitscape.
mother! was great.
I had a similar thought when I watched it! I enjoyed it well enough and it’s good for a superhero movie, but setting it in World War I without having anything substantive to say about that particular war was a totally wasted opportunity. I like your ending idea much more.
Given that you like Jeopardy!, I’ll suggest that you check out The Omnibus, a podcast hosted by Ken Jennings and John Roderick. Each episode they pick a piece of “strange or obscure human knowledge” and talk about it, with one of the hosts having done his research and explaining it to the other. They’re affable and…
Gene’s refusal to say “Suck me, suck me very dick” because it would be disrespectful to Elvis is one of the funniest, purest things I’ve ever heard on a podcast.
