That sounds charming. Do they think their *infant* is going to remember when she grows up that she missed Thanksgiving and be forever traumatized?

Shit. I told my husband I wasn't making Christmas cookies this year. Diet reasons, and all. If they're in the house, I'll just eat them, and that will ruin everything. But these sound so incredibly easy and delicious. Thank you Jolie, for completely ruining my diet. Can I send you my doctor's bill?
Yes, our Yankee swap has one gift that keeps coming back every year, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
There's simply no opportunity for me to get to know my mail carrier. Mr.Seli and I are at work all day when the mail is usually delivered. And, on the occasions when one of is home, they speed by so quickly in their truck that they're not going to stop and chat even if we were outside standing at the mailbox. I…
Ours don't actually work for us directly; we hire the cleaning service and the company sends over two lovely ladies (almost always the same two) to do the work. And after every cleaning we get an automated email survey asking us how it was. So if the quality were to suffer we'd have quite a bit of recourse.
I'm not one for tipping the mailman or garbage man. We have absolutely no interaction with them, and they don't do anything special for us, besides their basic jobs. We did, however, tip our housecleaners this year, and we have two regular bartenders at local restaurants that we will give extra large tips to next week…
I was just going to suggest getting a bedside table or nightstand to put the laptop/headphones on. That way there's also no way you could accidentally step on them if you get up in the middle of the night.
That would also work as long as it is "full size" (ie has a full 88 keys). When I was a kid the teacher I took piano from for a summer was aghast at the thought that I was using an electronic keyboard with only 50-something keys to practice on, but then again keyboards have come a long way since then. It's probably…
That will definitely be a fun time for him, and probably a pretty eye opening experience. But the piano lessons will be invaluable to him. Maybe he can stay after school for 30 minutes a day or two a week (if he's not doing other things) to practice if you don't get access to any other pianos. Or maybe a trusted…
My frugal filter goes:
Maybe I'm biased cause I'm a musician, but I think you should get the kid some piano lessons anyway. And check out http://www.pianoadoption.com/
Oh. Apparently I DIDN'T already have enough gifts for Mr.Seli, cause this is going to be another one. Dammit.
Thanks - I was quite sure that would be the case but if they were actually based here in Mass they might have been able to get away with it so I thought I'd check. Just as well anyway.. I have too many gifts already that I'm getting for Mr.Seli.
Wow - this is definitely going on my list of great gifts. Awesome find!
This is very cool, but I wish they would have a list in their FAQ of the states they do not ship to, instead of requiring you to go through the checkout process and seeing if your state is actually in the dropdown box. Especially because their checkout and registration process currently seems to be broken. (I'm pretty…
Why not both? Our house is going to be filled with cocktails, wine, and beer. No need to force anyone to drink anything they don't want to!
Also: anecdotally, I've found that when people get frustrated and quit their diet, and gain the weight back, it then becomes much more difficult to lose that weight the next time they try. I myself have yo-yoed a couple times.. Lost 40lbs the first time.. gained back 60. Lost about 30lbs and then got lazy again when I…
I have thought about buckwheat/grain pillows it the past but aren't they "loud"? I turn over so many times during the night and I feel like the rustling in the pillow would drive me nuts.
Last year hubby and I bought some reasonably-priced memory foam pillows at Target. They might be chopped foam and mixed with regular fill? I don't remember for sure. But I'm a side sleeper and have been really happy with how it's held up so far, and it was way cheaper than most other Tempurpedic-style pillows, the…
Jolie, I saw in your other article that you recommended Bluing for yellowed sheets, but I have a duvet cover that's ivory/cream colored and embroidered and everything. It's yellowed at the very top where it's touching our chins/necks/armpits. Can I using bluing on something non-white or should I just try the Borax?
