The point is that "surges" are voltage spikes. These precede any current spikes, so a fuse won't help you. In other words, a fused circuit will still allow damaging voltage to get to the device, long before it begins to draw too much current and blow a fuse. Hence why I am saying, fuses are not "surge suppressors"...

Carlin Hush's answer is more complete, but I wanted to point out: fuses aren't surge suppressors!

Not really. Sony VAIOs were in that realm for many years before. For example the 505-series was ultrathin as well, and that was released before 2000. Granted, it wasn't a big seller, because the "ultrathin" concept was silly at the time since you lost the optical drive (we didn't have the cloud back then). The point

I stand corrected - thanks for the info. They do have a limited selection for S&S items. Unfortunately, my brands are not available (Purolator oil fitlers - Fram is awful) but it's nice to see that it's happening. Thanks for the heads up!

It's funny. I love that wipers are available this way, but a little baffled why I can't get oil filters, air filters, and even oil this way? As a DIY-er, this would be a great way for me to "keep track" of when I need to change the oil/air filter in my car... and keep supply of these items!

As others said, thank you for being honest about your understanding, and admitting it in "public"... eating crow isn't so bad, and builds character. Kudos!

With the dry air, can you use a "cooler"? We used these in India and they basically blow air across a wet mat or mist-er, and that helped cool the air and felt cooler in general. Much cheaper than AC, and works quite well... haven't seen such devices much here in the US, but then I live in New England, where we

To speak to the people who say they should sell it, let's look at the numbers. A "2003 Mercedes Kompressor" likely means the C230 Kompressor (the other choices are AMG models, which I doubt this would be). Assuming it's in great condition with "normal" mileage, a quick look at KBB or Edmunds shows that this car would

My 2006 Legacy GT currently only has 1/10... the tires are the only thing. Though, I am planning on putting in a dashcam soon...

5. Don't Bother Speeding

Only because the incident didn't happen in the USA, where we have "freedoms"...

Agreed, I met my wife there as well. I do agree that the signup for it is rather daunting, but I felt it weeded out the people just in to play around or whatever. In some cases, they reject people because they are "obviously" lying on the application... I liked that, as it prevented the nonsense and garbage.

Proof again that 4WD means nothing without the right tires. Granted, he was effectively "off road" so even good road tires may not have helped, but I bet he had some cheap/crappy tires on there, which makes things far worse.

Proof, once more, that you shouldn't depend on your senses exclusively - The truth isn't always what it seems!

That was one of the best interviews I've seen in a while. I love how the dumbass was speechless when he was shown the real facts of what he was spouting.

Quite true. Too many people think "I have AWD or 4WD so now I can buy cheap tires and ignore snows. Here's a perfect test showing how wrong that is: http://jalopnik.com/lets-settle-th…

I call BS. I've had many pebble-cracks on my cars, and the windshield repair never had a problem of any kind. Keep in mind, the epoxy they're supposed to put in fills the CRACKS in the glass... where the RainX isn't, you know? Don't believe that guy... RainX makes no difference to the process of repairing a windshield.

Agreed. With a clutzy wife, it's far more palatable to get 5 of these than get a single Thermopen. I have 2 now, and one is a backup... because she already dropped the first one too many times. :)

Certainly odd. Well, as I said, I have many friends with Subarus and zero head gasket issues. On the contrary, I've had people with Honda Civics and Elements run into head gasket issues. I wonder if any of the "17" jobs were repeats... might be an install issue. Subies are weird, and need certain little "tricks" to do

As many others have said, I think your head gasket issue was likely due to a different issue. I have had my daily-drive 06 Legacy GT MT for over 115k running 50% over stock-boost since I bought it... and I don't baby it at all - I'm WOT at least a few times a day... love that torque and power! I've even run it at the
