You had me at “Zendaya is in an adult film”

Only the most shallow reading of the film would call it “directly” about just this one event. Over and over, the characters and the context interrogate the roots of racism, and the insidious ways it burrows into the hearts of ostensibly good people.

The Tarantula/Rand Corporation storyline would be pretty fun, and would enable inclusion of Will O’ The Wisp!

I’m sorry, but here at the beginning of the second month of 2024, this whole “let’s remake a movie/TV show/play, but replace men with women and/or white people with non-white people” is so, so incredibly lazy and boring. It’s a transparent tactic used by corporate entities to appear socially progressive while they

Ridley Scott is not getting nominated for Napoleon. Forget it. Not happening.

I kind of can’t believe they didn’t already have assurances there’d be a third season with the way they ended the second. If that’s how the whole thing had finished, it would have been beyond horrible.

You had me with “Trollhunter.”

And yet it worked. They “loved him in the room,” according to Frank (I think it was Frank).

Barbie, I think, is going to be far more of an out-there, oddball thing than many expect, with a strong feminist bent that will give some pause to the knuckle-dragger summer crowd. Oppenheimer is going to have a fantastic build-up to the first nuke test, but a disappointing ending; however, it’ll be enough of a ride

Concur. An incredible sequence.

Bullet the Blue Sky? No? Really?

I can hear the gears of your mind grind as they look for justifications to insert any song made after Zooropa into this list.

Weird comparison between Everything Everywhere and the tiny movies that have won the last couple years. Coda had a “big following”? It made $2M total worldwide box office. Almost nobody saw it, and it only picked up (a bit) on streaming after it won BP. Nomadland wasn’t exactly a monster hit either.

Didn’t Spider-Man: NWH just do basically this exact thing? And almost certainly better than WB will with this property? Already seems kind of low-rent.

C’mon. It’s Prince #1. Everyone knows it. The entire commentariat knows it. Every single person who even glanced at the title of the article knows it.

Terrible list. Where is Ridley Scott’s Napoleon? Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers? Scorsese’s Killer of the Flower Moon? Fincher’s The Killer?

Not sure how you leave “Hold Me” off this list. I mean, it’s gotta be one of the top 5 biggest hits in Fleetwood Mac history, but sure. Great list otherwise.

No “Tell Tale Head”?? Blasphemy. And nothing involving Kang and Kodos? Also indefensible.

Medulla is too low—it’s the one which focuses primarily on Bjork’s voice! That’s her biggest strength! And I think Vespertine is probably her best record overall. But overall a great list. Homogenic in the top two is definitely the right call. I’ve always found Post to be slightly overrated, but I mean, in the general

Yeah, it wasn’t good at two hours either.
