Aciman’s book sequel (Find Me) actually spends the bulk of its pages on an even more inappropriate (by American standards) relationship than the one between young Elio and the significantly older Oliver: this time around, the central romance is between Elio’s father and a much younger woman.

Being a “pedo” is itself a mental illness, tho. 

I guess my issue is: why even go there? Why try to, like, thread the needle on canon? Why write yourself into that position in the first place? You don’t even need Vader and Leia. Just stick with a story about a Kenobi adventure that could literally involve almost anything. The playbook is wide open here.
