Lionsgate’s excuse is that they didn’t give residuals because they thought all three died at the end of the first movie.

I don’t think there is any right or wrong here. It comes down to what scares you. For some people, the primal scares of The Blair Witch Project - being lost, cold, alone in the dark, feeling chased, watched - feel very real and visceral. For others it can seem silly. I think both views are valid.
Not another Blair Witch reboot
The worst part of this is that Bill Maher, of all people, certainly knows about edibles. He was being a douche for the sake of being a douche here.
Look. I know we’re suppose to be a civilized, polite society and have rules for assault and all that. But Bill Maher really is the type of person that should be punched in the face more often for his douchebag behavior.
Woah, my username survived the transition? Cool.
Oh FFS, y’know what? Apparently the “argument” goes something like this:
I’m not thinking we’ll see mass replacement (because that sort of thing would touch off a HELL of a national tantrum), but...might not be a bad idea to float that whole “UBI” thing again? IDK, might be a decent little cushion, just in case!
“While these billionaires say they want to create a world where no one has to work”
So she makes a career out of humiliating herself, joins up with a comedian who is known for humiliating himself and then decides she’s offended at being asked to humiliate herself. Have I got that right?
Nice article. Bizarre advertising placement slightly impacted my ability to read though. Not sure what’s up with that.
Well you see, when one wants to take a molehill and convince others that it’s actually a mountain, a bit of creative license is necessary.
Genuinely don’t get how Garland being open about his plans is ‘sabotaging’ the movie
I think generally a story this epic and with a loooong list of characters is helped by this medium. The book introduces a ton of characters many of whom have Chinese names that just don’t roll off my American tongue, so it was a real challenge keeping the characters straight. I think that would be easier to track on TV…
Garland earned a lifetime pass for writing Sunshine and writing/directing Annihilation. This is an instant watch for me.
Ah yes New York theater goers - the demographic most likely to not have heard about or be concerned about man made climate change. Of course.
Yo I uh totally agree with you guys, you guys are cool, you guys are cool, I’m doin’ my part too man, protecting the planet, that’s what it’s all about...right on guys. Keep uh fighting the good fight. You’re cool, I like you. Don’t listen to these suits, all these...they don’t know things dude, they don’t know how it…
“We’re not protesting the event itself; we are not protesting theater; we are not protesting the emissions that brought spectators to get here. That’s not the point,”
It’s extraordinarily arrogant to impose on hundreds of people and effectively tell them that what you have to say is more important than what they have chosen to do with their time.
In short, they call it “canceling” because they can’t comprehend the idea of consequences.
