I can’t wait for the news story about a guy who shoots a drone down over his property; only to have local law enforcement turn up at his doorstep to collect their damaged drone (they had been using to track a suspect) and arrest the guy for shooting their drone down.

Obligatory

This is going to be an absolute mess. The people who are handling the wheelchairs often barely speak english, having them pass a test is going to lead to huge failure rates and actually less service. I’ve done a lot of work with the company that supplies the wheelchairs at ORD and it’s not their fault.

So, is it normal for the smell to travel from the cargo hold to the rest of the plane? If yes, why didn’t they account for that on a 12 hour flight? If no, what went wrong?

It was all predatory from the start. I can’t fault automakers completely for not buying enough chips because they thought Covid was going to be much worse than it was financially (Mistake #1).

Exactly. Add to that the MBA-thought of incremental savings = more profit so I can get my bonus this quarter (at the expense of the business long-term), and you end up with idiots making decisions to enrich themselves with zero accountability while the line workers or low-level employees are left holding the (empty)

The US economy is carrying the world right now. It’s the only economy that’s not on the brink of collapse right now. Pretty much every other developed economy has been hit hard repeatedly by food and energy prices skyrocketing, foreign and domestic security issues, and general civil strife.

From the anecdotes I’ve been hearing for years, it seems the real problem (besides the EV turmoil, which is to be expected as the industry largely transitions away from ICE) is that Wall Street sees a new financial milestone reached and decides that the milestone is the baseline moving forward. RV companies sold

Here’s a fucking clue for the automakers: When your markets are in the midst of a recession (or on the tipping point), raising prices, adding markups, and just being assholes isn’t the way to LONG-TERM profitability. Sure, you’ll make your quarterly bonuses, but you’re screwing yourselves in the long term.

This is from earlier this year

Doesn’t fit in, but needs to be talked about....

I mean, I thought that was obvious. China basically owning the global south is going to have major geopolitical implications in the next 30 years.

I’ve been seeing these recently in the north Chicago burbs, and was wondering these same questions.
How are they applied? Those gotta kill aerodynamics. Gotta be loud as they flap and tap in the wind, scratching paint.
Whatever.
They do look festive though....thankfully at no cost to me.

Adding lights on your car can be distracting

I saw them tonight, at least four. They make the oddest passes, they’ll come through low in one direction and then high the next. They have white, red, and green flashing lights. My old FPV gear and racing drones aren’t up to the task of catching them and taking photos, but I’m sorely tempted to invest in some digital

On the one hand, I am not sure I am ok with the redneck “don’t know what it is, shoot it!” approach. On the other hand I am redneck enough to want to watch people shoot down expensive drones.

Theyre here in California too.  Temecula has had them.  I had noticed strange drone type stuff in the skies when watching the SpaceX launches but thought they were people taking photos.

Rarely to do I find Mr Blum’s hot takes good...but yeah, shoot em down and figure out the rest later.

They’re coming to take the devil home !
