Noise.

This is all speculation and noise until it becomes law.
Sit back and spectate - none of this is within our control post-election anyway.

Say it with me: full autonomy not possible except maybe on highways. Too many variables in urban/suburban setting for cameras to ID, then algorithms to assess real-time, then make the correct decision every time. I guess if society is willing to kill a non-trivial number of people to bring about “autonomy”, then put

We need to be paying our police officers more, so that they can afford to hire people who aren’t this goddamn stupid.

I get the feeling most people on this site have picked a side and stick to it even when it doesn't make sense. I'm sure if this story was about the police not stopping someone at that person then went on to commit a worse crime people on here would question why the police didn't stop them when they had the chance to.

Radio to whom? Someone has to ultimately stop the offender. Are you counting on someone being wherever he decides to stop? Will he kill someone, carjack someone, or commit other crimes before he is stopped? Is the car stolen? Do they know the driver’s identity?

As much as I hate Musk, and Tesla for that matter, I think if you are too stupid to read the manual or even do some cursory research into the product you are buying, you probably deserve the results. For example, if you read about what Autopilot actually does, both in a Tesla and in an aircraft, you’d understand that

At this point, people are just being willfully stupid. Sure this happened a year ago, but accidents with FSD has been happening since 2016.

Back then it didn’t, but now through software updates all Teslas with autopilot/FSD does use the interior camera to monitor the driver. Just looking away from the road for a few seconds causes sounds and warnings to appear on the screen to pay attention. After so many warnings, Autopilot/FSD will completely disable

I’m not going to comment on whether it’s the driver’s fault or Tesla’s fault - I’m sure everyone else will cover that.

Yeah I thought it was fishy too. My guess is the “Global EV Drivers Alliance” is a community of people who are pretty into their EVs....

First gear: how does this parse with the McKinsey study that suggested 46% of EV owners would consider switching back to internal combustion cars? (https://www.motor1.com/news/724788/half-ev-owners-american-switch-gas/) I don’t presume that either is 100% correct, but this shift in six months doesn’t strike me as

There is also one on display at the Teknik Museum in Speyer, Germany, which I have seen for myself in person. From the museum’s website: “The Buran prototype OK-GLI shown in the museum was built in 1984 and was used for testing gliding flight and landing after reentry into the atmosphere. During this part of the

I would like to think that they all apologized to each other, piled in that Subaru, bottoming out the suspension, and then proceeded to bankrupt the local Golden Corral.

Would be awesome if the Smithsonian could get a hold of one and put in their museum, one of these should be preserved at a higher standard than I'm sure the one in the Russian museum is.  Really a unique piece of aviation history that is rotting away.

Alternatively, go to the Technikmuseum Speyer in Germany to check out one in better condition. The sister museum in Sinsheim not too far away from this one even has a Concorde and a Tu-144.

Oh, he looks like the guy. But I want more than “we found a guy in a hoodie sweatshirt in NYC in winter that has thick eyebrows.” Sure, in the pictures from other areas, that 100% looks like him and some of the stuff he’s talked about and written about point strongly toward him, but I want to see the complete story

I don’t like this story. Dude’s a suspect. Dude 3D printed gun parts it appears. A LOT of people 3D print gun parts. The internet is full of “this is the guy!” and all I see is “dude had a “ghost gun” and a 3D printer!” and no indication he even went to NYC.

Its cold out.  Not a single person would have looked suspicious leaving a mask and hood up, and he all the sudden drops it all at a McDonalds?  All of the tough parts were over.  I have a very hard time believing the capture.

100%.  None of it makes any sense when you get past the surface.  I think the only thing that wasnt planned was the reaction from the public.

The whole story stinks. How did he know when the guy would be in NYC? What hotel he’d be at? That he would leave at 7:30am? If he had security? Or if he was just coming to town for the meeting in the morning and leaving? There are a lot of questions and he didn’t just hang out for 10 days hoping to come across the
