Remember when Disney Channel was launched as a stand alone subscription channel? That went over like a lead balloon.
I hope they leave all her tattoos in
I believe that Uma is vaping weed. And good on her. I wish I had an assistant that could just go fetch it for me. No shade. Jealous.
I agree. It’s been said before, but I absolutely hate the idea that men need “a place of their own” inside the house. Because, of course, what is a woman’s place of her own? At best, it’s the goddamned kitchen. At worst, it’s no-fuckin-where because I don’t know why. It’s just so absurdly regressive.
I used to actively root against Alex-Piper as a couple and thought their relationship was toxic and annoying. I don’t know if they have just worn me down, or if the actresses’ chemistry has won out, but at this point I am really pulling for them & think they work.
Red/Nicky definitely deserved top pairing. I’m glad Red realized Nicky had no other choice but I am very nervous for her.
I would go further to say that I didn’t understand the point of the flashback until red said, “it’s ok,” at which point everything clicked into place and the horror of what Nicky and everyone had done t red really became clear. I don't think it would have resonated so well without the flashback.
didn’t Chang also escape?
PS we did also learn that she liked her step-mother and her step-mother wasn’t the homewrecker her mother always said she way. She wanted to include her stepmother in her speech because she was nicer to her than her parents. That is a good reason for her to be so pissed off at her dad for leaving her for a third…
I think we did learn something new about Nikki in that flashback. She always talks about her father cheating and abandoning her. This flashback showed a reason for him to do it that she caused(not blaming a child, but from his perspective). She projects that he abandoned her but deep down she knows she probably pushed…
I was actually impressed that they were willing to do a relationship as realistic as Pennsatucky and Dixon, but I’m guessing I’ve known a lot more horribly abused people who end up in bizarre relationships that make no sense to outsiders than most of the OitNB audience, or most people, for that matter. Definitely…

What I will say for the Pennsatucky/Coates “relationship” is that it DOES mimic the experience of many people with those abusive-of-power dynamics. It follows Pennsatucky’s usual trajectory of questionable dependency, it follows Pennsatucky’s backstory of trading on whatever someone might find valuable ahout her at a…
Uh, me. This is still a vital story.
But Coates and Pennsatucky’s relationship isn’t homophobic or racist... you could argue misogynistic, but the main problem is his abuse of power. I see what you're saying in a broader sense about using more specific terms to describe hateful period, but I agree with the author that “toxic” is the best descriptor of…
I mean, I clearly understand how you feel about toxic. But I think for headline shorthand, it’s the easiest way to summarize the messed-up power dynamics that define this pairing. I take the point that I could have gotten more specific in the body of the review itself, but I think my affection for toxicity as a term…
Those words don’t describe relationships, though?
