The obvious solution is to scrap the whole system and start over using a proven public Healthcare model from pretty much any other first world country.

While I agree that healthcare shouldn’t be a for-profit industry, hospitals losing money by treating patients is exactly the reason rural hospitals are closing at an alarming rate, putting rural communities even further from critical care.

People in Manhattan aren’t all hanging out at a Smashmouth concert at the same time because 1)Its a total disregard for social distancing. 2)They aren’t that lame.

And those subsidized health care systems that are funded by tax dollars WAY cheaper than the US’s free market solution. Like WAAAAAAY cheaper. Turns out that an entire country has more negotiating power than I do alone. Who could have predicted that????????

Hundreds of different insurance companies in between with a hundred different plans each and each with it’s own reimbursement scheme. Everything attached to dealing with insurances is an unnecessary expense, go single payer and one person could handle what it takes a dozen to do now. And take for profit companies out…

It’s a hospital. It should lose money every time it treats a patient. The issue is that in America we are looking at health care as a for-profit industry. It shouldn’t be.

Medicine is technically expensive everywhere.  The difference is that most countries don’t make their citizens pay for it.
