New economy cars are so good right now - every time I sit in a rental car I am impressed with all of the features and content available even in base and mid spec trims.  I remember the days when an inexpensive cars would get you crank windows, a tin-box radio, and questionable handling and NVH but nowadays inexpensive

While few can disagree that the cost of goods is increasing at significantly higher rate than income, this issue also has to do with the fact that the average American is terrible at making financial decisions and managing finances. The median household income in the US is around $60K and the average car price is

I will never understand that mentality with people. It’s insanity at its finest. Keep buying expensive shit to look like you have money, only to wind up with no money. I was 12 years old when my ford escort zx2 was built, and here I am now, 33 years old, and it runs flawlessly. It gets great mileage. It’s definitely

The realities of life in America, much of America, anyway, make universal ownership of such small cars as the Fit impractical, if not impossible. If one lives 45 minutes outside of Seattle or Philadelphia, for example, and one has a family of 5, the very act of buying groceries for a week with two kids in tow renders

How will I ever show that I’m better than my neighbors???

4th Gear: The quarterly truck increase is kind of amazing although it says more about the sales momentum and low fuel prices in January and February than anything else.

3rd gear: The E golf is the price of a Model 3 with less performance that the Chevy Bolt. Unless you are a die hard Golf fan there’s no reason to buy one.

Conservatives tend to love the government as soon as they can use it to tell everybody else what to do.

Oh, conservatives like Big Brother intervention. Just of other people.

Well, it is Florida and apparently up until a couple days ago, their government was looking to Dear Leader to tell them if they should do something or not.  Why would your residents take this seriously when their only “news” source has been telling them it’s just a hoax and it’s nothing more than the common flu?

The source isn’t BLS. The source for this chart is AEI, which is a right-wing policy group. The figure they use here to represent hourly wages is more commonly referred to as total compensation. It includes benefits like health care. Here, it’s misleading because the chart would lead you to think that line is

Conservatives love HOAs. It’s their sucker militia.

Which is why truck sales are more linked to daily drivers than contractors. People aren’t buying them for work as much.

Fair point... but not THAT many people need trucks for their job. Go look in my company parking lot. None of those people need trucks. Holy crap there are a lot. Quad cab platinum, king ranch, ram cummins deisel. These people all sit on their ass all day.

How do people farm and do construction in parts of the world where oversized North American pickups are not prevalent?

People who do tough dirty work for a living NEED a chrome-plated, $57,000 Sierra HD? Hmmmmm

I think we all realize that trucks are necessary for lots of jobs, and are thankful for their utility.

Vans are more practical for pretty much everything you just mentioned.
