They spent decades building bikes for shitty and/or poorly behaved people. Their entire brand culture is around some perceived badasserry.

I mean considering people are losing their jobs, worried about their financial futures, and in lockdown avoiding going outside, I would have thought a steep decline in car sales would have been obvious
The LiveWire is a great idea that wasnt done all that well. Having an electric bike thats trying to attract a younger audience who have more debt than ever and charging nearly 30K for it is outrageous
This company was already dying before coronavirus now its demographic will be literally dying.
Tesla is more than just the cars. I was at Enron back then. They were flat out crooked as hell. Tesla? Some stupid mistakes, but they have a real product and not some tap dancing quants lying to everyone and selling vaporware.
We’re dying out here, bro.
No wonder they kept it covered. It’s bad.
It wont. Americans are addicted to big bulky CUVs and SUVs. They are not looking back and it is a very sad situation.
After driving one of the original 500es, I have to concur. I mean, it wasn’t going to win any races, but it was downright sprightly around town. It’s on the highway where it’s a little underwhelming, especially as you get over 70 MPH, the acceleration drops off precipitously... and the top speed is literally 88 MPH.…
I happen to be in Italy this week and 500s are fricking everywhere. When you’re over here driving on medieval city streets, these little guys make perfect sense. They even look kind of robust compared to Smart cars, original clown car sized 500s, and a bazillion mopeds, etc.
Re: Hardley Ableson:
I mean, most SUVs are basically minivans.
Harley has a rich history of hill climb and flat track. Some kind of dirt oriented adventure bike should be a natural fit.
An electric Harley will never sell in big numbers. Every time they're at a light or just cruising down small streets they always hold down the clutch and pull the throttle down just a little to make sure everyone knows how cool they are. How do you let everyone know how cool you are on an electric bike? Until Harley…
Yes, batteries weigh so much, the charge they carry can never exceed the amount of energy necessary to carry them around. That is why all EVs have negative range. /s
I say let the manufacturers try it out - kinda like the way an Apple store works.
You have to remember that a large part of the reason that dealerships still exist is because they’re the largest employer and tax income resource for many small podunk towns across the US. Think of how many times you’re driving across the middle of nowhere and all the sudden a town pops up and there’s a gas station, a…
Nearly every dealer I’ve worked with in our 7 new car purchases was a shitmonkey. Fuck dealers. The good ones are outliers (BMWSF was, in this regard, an outlier).
Doesn’t Tesla have showrooms? Forgive my naivete, I have no idea how Tesla sells their used vehicles.
Im pretty impressed. New model from a new company with new tech should have more failures than this. That being said, it’s relatively easy on a car to do miles over a short time period, especially highway miles.
