There is nothing bewildering about mothering unless Huffman was raised by androids in a hermetically sealed bubble completely bereft of human women who have given birth to and raised children.

It’s also almost incomprehensible how bad the things he did to her were that they had a closed court, no jury, because they considered the contents of the case (as in the abuse) too traumatising for a jury.
Personally, I wish he’d been caught, sentenced to life, and locked away in 1984, when the abuse ended.
I know he’ll never be free but it just seems like a low number when you consider, among other traumas, that:
No one should have to have that kind of strength and use such extreme coping mechanisms to survive.
I believe there were over 300, but he changed his plea to guilty after Symphony/Jeni got a few years into the detailed abuses. He pleaded guilty to 25 plus of the most heinous.
If it makes you feel any better, Jeni was thrilled by the length of the sentence as it means he’ll never get out. https://7news.com.au/news/court-justice/woman-with-2500-personalities-ecstatic-after-dad-richard-haynes-jailed-for-45-years-c-439207
If there’s one shred of slightly less black in this pit of horrific despair, it’s that at least thinking has advanced enough to A) understand a diagnosis of DID, and B) grasp that these various personalities are the evidence of the abuse as opposed to the way-too-long tradition of dismissing a person’s accusation…
What that usually means is “I wanted to make sure my kid didn’t embarrass me by having learning disabilities/going to a mediocre school.”
Yeah, that was crap. They had the resources to send their kid to a private school, hire a tutor, etc. They aren’t struggling working class people whose children have to go to some overcrowded, underfunded moldy nightmare with no desks.
I can’t tell you how many college graduates I’ve encountered from “good schools” who have problems with spelling (more than occasional brain farts or typos), basic logic and anything that couldn’t be memorized and regurgitated. Had this scam not been exposed I’m almost certain this kid would have been holding a…
I don’t think sentencing should ever be “symbolic” either. I think you should get what you deserve regardless of your life span. I think he deserves more than 45.
367 counts of sexual and physical abuse???? And it took 10 years to charge him?? Jesus Fucking Christ.
He’s 74 now. Unless early release is very easy in oz he’ll be well over 100 before he can hope to get out. Works for me.
THIS. ALL OF THIS.
I think it’s more about this. People - especially POC who know they were cheated out of an opportunity because of multiples of Felicities who pulled this kind of nonsense (one of the indicted Willkie Farr senior partners paid $75K to get someone else to take his daughter’s entrance exams for Cornell, ffs) - want to…
four years old. to live a lifetime and not know a moments peace. so so so sad.
And to bring up a leaning disability as if that matters at all with this scandal. She’s rich, get tutors and make your kid study, don’t buy them grades for fucks sake.
Right, that was my point. They could have just bought a house in BH if they didn’t live there already and sent their kids to high schools no doubt equipped with an army of guidance counselors. They were not tied to whatever school district they were in like most other Americans. Lori Loughlin is, by definition, a…
“all I was doing was giving my daughter a fair shot”
