I wondered the same thing. My sister is a prison guard, and if those guys throw poo or spit through the bars, they get an assault charge. They really dropped the ball on this one- or just didn't even try at all or care, more likely. As usual, especially if the victim isn't white and well-off.

Isn’t there also something on the books about assaulting somebody with your bodily fluids?

OK, so the law was stupid and vague and it didn’t qualify as sexual assault. But how does “tackling and strangling” not count as plain old vanilla assault and battery?

This is hugely comforting - I am planning to move from NYC to a state that borders IL (I have family in both states) in a couple years and have been really scared about my reproductive rights, so knowing I have an option just a couple hours’ drive away is a relief.

I re-watched Daria in its entirety last year. I loved it as a teenager when it originally aired but I appreciated it even more now in my mid-30s which surprised me. Jodie rocked and I hope this does her justice.
