Omg, every time she talked about “tablescapes” I wanted to gouge out my eyes

Oh yes. Corn and mayonnaise is a very popular pizza choice in Japan.

Was wondering where it’s filmed/set... apparently the setting is a fictional OBX town but they filmed the show near Charleston (didn’t want to film in NC due to the bathroom bill nonsense)

Baby Foot is awesome! The first time I tried it I was very underwhelmed at first, like .... isn’t something supposed to happen??

I live alone so usually just get 2 meals x 2 people but I definitely upped to 3 meals for this upcoming week since I’m now working from home for who knows how long. That, supplemented by sandwiches and what I can throw together with the staples I have on hand, has been a lifesaver.

Right? That is totally the best part. And the clothes. Love Miss Fisher’s so so so much!

I mean, yeah it is slow and meditative — but when that’s what you’re in the mood for this show is great!

Haha yes I have VIVID memories of scouring through the almanacs playing that game.

I’d have to say, the fact that the lineup of thirsty men for the next Bachelorette season has been released, and imagining the glorious recaps about pretty people not eating food that are in my future.

who.... the fuck ... puts pizza in a closet?!

For sure! I mean, it didn’t necessarily *come* from Japan originally-- but it’s on the menu at pretty much any izakaya you walk into, alongside things like karaage fried chicken that are pretty standard Japanese dishes at this point.

Yup, RDU to LAX on Sunday, plane was packed. Lots of college students talking about heading to Cabo.

Reminds me of one of my all-time favorite “traditional” Japanese dishes, the ebi-mayo. Pretty similar to above, fried shrimp in a mayonnaise sauce.

Good thought. I’ve also seen recommendations that bok choy can be a good celery substitute, and that seems like something nice to try as well.

Looks yum! Wonder if there’s a good substitute for the celery in the recipe (just double the onions instead...?)

I was wondering about that too. The Vons near my house has self-checkout registers but you’re not allowed to purchase alcohol there, you have to go through the regular staffed checkout.

Also, if it’s a 12-15 hour long haul flight (almost the only kind I do these days) then you can bet your ass I am reclining that seat.

A lot of the US/Japan ANA flights I’ve been on have that! Makes me wonder if it’s something that’s just more common with non-US carriers

Ok it’s official, that person is EVIL

Huh. I grew up in Raleigh and even lived for several years just outside of downtown, by the Farmer’s Market/Dorothea Dix -- and I’d not ever heard of this place.
