What do you mean "is that all I've got"? We view feminism differently. *shrug* I could really care less - it's a big tent after all. You're the one who isn't letting this drop.

At the end of the day, we're both feminists, and that's what matters to me.

Oh man, he's so good looking.

Lol, ok troll.

Clearly she was just as much of a civil rights activist as I am.

As a feminist, I'm pretty sure I know what feminism is. But thanks for playing!

I'm not a huge bell hooks fan, sorry.

And people say kids today are lazy. She's killing at an adult level!

"Of course, lots of teens write violent fiction and manage to never kill their parents."

Eh, my feminism is pro-capitalist. I'll check out that comedy sketch though - it sounds hilarious!

MRAs profess a belief for equal rights for everyone, they just believe that women have things better than men. I keep them out of my feminism though.

Also, there's something that feels...off...about not caring about history. I feel like I hear a lot of people in the South who refuse to believe that African Americans have a disadvantaged position because "they don't care about history" or "slavery was forever ago, what does that matter".

You're entitled to your opinion, but we'll have to disagree. If 'ism's aren't defined objectively, then it seems like they lose their meaning. I know many men who believe that things should be equal, but also believe that women have more rights than men today. They aren't part of my feminism, but you're welcome to

I think that there is a time and a place to exclude people, yes. And honestly, even people who are shouting me down feel the same way. One commenter made it clear that in her mind, pro-life feminists weren't feminists, which I find to be incredibly exclusionary. At least in that case, you and I are on the same side.

Ok, well that's our disagreement then. Where you see the same movement with two different emphases, I see two fundamentally different movements with their own storied histories, own goals and ideals, etc.

Well, first, I still don't understand why you had equated gender with someone genitals, because that seems pretty trans-exclusionary to me. But there's always been room for trans-exclusionary feminism, so it's not my place to say that it's not feminist.

Eh. It's gross when old men only date "pretty young things", and it's just as gross when old women do it.

I don't care what's between someone's legs, but I do think that they're gender is relevant. You do know that there are women with penises, right?

bell hooks is certainly welcome to her opinion, but she's not the arbiter of feminism. Feel free to build another tent - since we've already claimed feminism, what are you calling your tent?

Guess what? Not everyone is a third wave feminist. You don't get to kick second-wavers out of the tent they built.

There are plenty of pro-life feminists. Seriously, you can Google it. I have no problem with someone who thinks that abortion is a sin but wouldn't restrict the choice for other women. I don't think it's your place to tell a woman that she can't be a feminist.
