Like I said, you have your feminism and I have mine. Not all feminisms are identical; it's a big umbrella. Good night.

Ok, then we disagree on multiple fronts. I would never tell another woman, even one who is pro-life, that she has no right to claim feminism. There are many feminists whose feminism is not compatible with mine, but I find it incredibly presumptuous to tell another woman that she can't be a feminist.

Well, the important thing is that we're both feminists I guess.

Ok, cool, then I'm a civil rights activist!

My point is that once you accept that it's worth drawing *some* line and saying "this is the bar you must meet to be a feminist", then it becomes a debate over what that line should be. And everyone's line is at least a little different. There are pro-life feminists. There are racist feminists. There are pro- and

There are plenty of pro-life feminists. If you're going to argue with me for drawing lines of feminist purity, certainly you can't go back and do the same.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad tattoo.

It's not feminist to place stereotypes on how groups of people act, even if it is a privileged group (e.g. white women). My feminism rejects harmful stereotypes, so we'll just have to disagree.

Egg and sperm production have nothing to do with gender. Gender is a social construct.

You know it - SUCH INDOCTRINATED. SO OVERBOARD. WOW.

Eh, I consider it fairly culturally appropriate for us (atheists) to use an expression that belongs to a group of people who hold a sincere belief. I wouldn't wear a yarmulke for fun, and I wouldn't use Jesus Christ as an exclamation, knowing that it would be hurtful to my Christian friends.

I don't believe in God, but your opinion has been duly noted on the Internet!

Sure, but lots of feminists do things that are opposed to my philosophy. Sex-negative feminists for example. So do we get to kick them out?

Again, just honestly asking - so in your view, ANYONE could claim the label and they become a feminist, albeit a shitty one? Rush Limbaugh? The Stuebenville rapists? Boko Haram? I guess I just don't fully understand the logic of not drawing any firm lines in the sand.

Eh, most MRAs would tell you that they believe in equal rights for everyone. By all means, invite them to your feminist workshops, but they can stay the heck out of mine.

Maybe, but they're the majority.

Because your question made no sense - Yes, in a world where no gender discrimination exists, gender becomes irrelevant, but that presupposes the whole existence of the movement!

Honest question - are there any groups of people that you think cannot claim feminism? Or is it just a label that anyone can give themselves? I've heard a lot on both sides of this, and I feel like your answer is going to inform how deep our disagreement goes.

I think it's an interesting stance to not want to push anyone out of a movement. Sarah Palin labels herself as a feminist and is staunchly anti-abortion. Hugo Schwyzer blogs about his feminism and sexually assaults people. I just feel like my feminism becomes less meaningful if my circle includes them. Your

Well, in an ideal world there is no discrimination on any level at all, so why would feminism even still exist?
