I would nearly quadruple the horsepower of my 1972 Citroën 2CV6. Currently has a 602cc 29hp flat twin, aka the ‘big block’ 2CV. Good for 70mph (with gravity and tailwind assist.)

The beach comber is a favorite of mine. I was dropped too often as a child and daily drive a ‘72 Citroën 2CV6 in Chicago when it’s not winter. It can haul lots of bulky (albeit light) things.

This subset of car esoterics needs its own post.

This is an excellent parlay into part cross reference nerd-dom, which is where I excel at automotive esoteric knowledge, i.e. The BMW Issetta drive shaft guibo cross references to a US Spec Citroën SM auxilary drive shaft guibo.

The hood HVAC vent also makes for a good view of the SM’s Italian heart.

too many, never enough

Nice try. Let me guess...you are be between 5'3" - 5'8" and have short dreadlocks.

Doh! Missed the call out for stories. Permit me to pile on!

I am three for three with having offers accepted on non-running project cars when I had figured on the offer being rejected. Instant buyer’s remorse every time.

Chevrolet Corvair: A nice mix of Detroit steel with European influence.

I did see that, but never checked on the auction result till just now. My wife definitely prefers our ID19 over the SM or 2CV. You can’t go wrong (Yes you can.) :)

Chicago

Kind of. It’s my shop, where clearly we have a double chevron affliction. Nice article by the way!

Mutation from the norm is the key to survival.

Two horses. Also two side mirrors.

Great video! Even a frame swap on a 2cv can be a one person job, performed over a weekend, with minimal use of the gawd-dammit wrench, i.e. the wrench you throw across the garage in frustration while yelling its name.

Circulating center vents. Enough said.

Smugness abounds from this 87 924S owner! I can only hope the totally fair and inclusive 944 category comes back for the best cars of ‘88.

Thank you for reminding me to slather fluid film all over my Porsche 924S (which I drive in Chicago year round).
