Good eye! A time suck hobby of mine is fixing those too.

Beware what lurks under those rubber floor mats and inside the sheet metal frame. Nice price if it doesn’t need a new frame. Not a good price if it does. A few years back I bought a rusted out ‘72 2CV6 and spent a summer frame swapping, floor welding, and sailor swearing in my garage while normal humans enjoyed…
Painting radiator fan motors on a Citroën SM.
Good eye!
Have to say it would be my ‘87 924S with side marker lights deleted, euro bumpers, and D90 rims from a 964. Surprisingly, the 8" wide rims fit on a 924S without any fender rolling required. I’m certain the bigger 8" wide tires only make the car slower.
Yup, it’s an aftermarket galvanized chassis. Heavier than an original, but much less prone to rusting out from inside out.
My Citroën 2CV kinda sorta did come in a box. At least an integral replacement part did.
Sounds like a methodical approach to returning. Oh, how I miss the Engineers-at-the-helm days of Citroën, when they’d do stuff like release an entirely new model for sale before there were any service manuals.
Wife and I are dealing with this very issue right now. She wants a Mini Cooper S Hardtop (the four door version). I like them too, mainly because the rear doors are hilariously small and the proportions look much better than the other larger minis. But I’m hoping to convince her that a Porsche 996 C4S for the same…
Lucky photo, really. Normally the 924S is parked on the street.
Nice Price for a ‘narrow body’ 944.
I remember also finding this motorweek classic last year when I was trying to decide between a 944 and an rx-7! I ended up with a 924S because of the rear children seat. I think JDM option for the rx-7s was a rear seat though?
Citroën: Returning to the U.S. since 1974
I can’t pick just one best...it was a fun year
Too many SM’S is never enough.
2cv. Oh the stories you will tell and the people you will meet. DO IT.
I can’t decide if it’s redoing the wiring harness on my Citroën SM or removing and stripping down the motor to replace two bad cylinder liners. When the car works it’s incredible. When it doesn’t, it is incredible. (Two pictures of the same car, by the way).
Nope and nope. It’s Lotus owners who need a Citroen mechanic for the citroen transmission taken from the SM and put in a Lotus. All timing chains can be replaced without removing engine.
As a 2CV and a 924S owner (close enough to a 944, right?), I approve of this list!
Nice! Did not know about that paint option. I’ve got an ‘87 924S as a daily driver. I honestly prefer the look of the 944 (especially the interior of 85.5+), but a 924S with euro bumpers and those damnable trucker side marker lights deleted - like the above car - make for a pleasing shape. I ruined mine with a roof…
