I have lived in Texas and Kansas City. North Carolina BBQ is the absolute fucking best. You can get Bone Suckin Sauce in one if the grocery stores here in Reno and I put it on......everything.

Very true. Vinegar-based sauce might not be my favorite, but it’s definitely the more distinct form of BBQ. You can find sauces similar to Lexington-style all over the country, whereas Eastern-style is a strictly local NC specialty.

Also, if you’re in the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area, we’re in the same neck of the woods!

You mean...surgically remove the head/skull and the full vertebral column and implant that which I suppose would require fusing the vertebral column with each rib and the pelvis and all of the muscles of the back and then connecting the myriad nerve endings...

Clyde Cooper’s is so much better than the pit in my opinion, even if their new digs is kind of sad. But yeah, NC BBQ can’t be beat!

exactly. mustard is apparently “SC-style bbq.” Charleston has sooooo many other things to offer besides bbq, there would be no reason to get it there.

Sorry, as a fellow North Carolinian, I have to amend your post: Eastern-style North Carolina BBQ is pulled pork served with a spicy vinegar-based sauce. Lexington-style, or Western-style, North Carolina BBQ is pulled pork served with a sweet-savory tomato-based sauce. One simply cannot describe NC BBQ without also

My job is five minutes from Allen & Sons!! I drive by on my way home every day!

Stamey’s in Greensboro and Short Sugar’s in Reidsville are my go to’s, mainly because they’re close by. I have heard great things about The Pit.

Someone’s been reading Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal.

If you get your softshell crabs or crab-related cakes from anywhere but the Chesapeake Bay (smothered in Old Bay, after the eponymous BAY) you’re doing it wrong, and should probably be shackled to the stockades and pelted with baskets of substandard crabs.

I loved the real history mixed with vampire lore as letters/travelogues. But the ending when we really confront Vlad is just atrocious. Cutting that would’ve made the mystery so much sweeter.

I loved the world building and just the whole vibe, but there about 1.5 too many iterations of the Man with the Thistledown Hair scenes, and the stuff with the tower toward the end... I actually had a hard time figuring out what was going on in bits.

That’s why it’s so important to axolotl questions before you dive in!

Drogon is the fucking “man.” And something tells me that the Dany who left Mereen is going to return full-on Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen, Mother of Dragons. And she’s going to show Mereen no mercy.

One of my favourite memories is walking in Oaxaca and seeing one of these in a puddle by the side of the road. There are some animals you just don’t expect to see in the wild.

Reminds me of Pyramid Head for some reason.

Even better— that is an older reimagining of what the Gold Warrior’s suit might have looked like. Back when they assumed, given the massive amount of weaponry in the grave, that it belonged to a man. Which, well... it probably didn’t. That hat is very similar to one still worn, especially as wedding regalia, by the
