Speaking of using existing castles, I seem to recall a story about some Arthurian-related production (Excalibur? Monty Python&Holy Grail? Merlin?)* where, to cut down on costs, they used an existing ruin and just pretended it was being built instead of falling down - that way they didn’t have to re-build or fill in

I think your point about money/sets is crucial to why there are so few. Not specifically because they are more expensive, but because they are more expensive with a lower built-in audience. In other words, the $/viewer ratio for high fantasy (which requires much more set & costume design and/or CGI) is very different

I think that most of the classic Roman gods were a little passe by the time of Christ; ceremonially important but not as big in popular worship. He’d probably have to deal more with Mithras and mystery cults like Orpheus and the Hellenicized Isis. I don’t want to see Maximus working for ISIS...

The lines between Japanese animation and Western animation have been blurred for some time. Avatar has more than enough stylistic similarities to Japanese animation to be considered “anime” in the broader thematic sense.

Party? Like a nap party?

I came to a revelation this morning that Jessica Jones is what we thought Winona Ryder would grow up to be:

I forget Angel seasons, but I assume you’re talking about Fred?

That’s SIR Integra.

R.I.P Goose

I finished S4 of Person Of Interest last weekend and Netflix added the fifth season last night. I know what I am watching tonight!

That concept art positively screams “creationist theme park.”

Trying to catch up on shows like:

Spinny chair!

Jeffrey Combs has been sorely missing from this week’s celebrations...

Now playing

I think we all could use a little Zathras today.

I was watching this with my dad and we both cracked up a little at this scene. Especially after this part when he put on his chief’s uniform and my dad went “oh, no....” LOL

Me this morning, upon being forced to do actual work before being sufficiently caffeinated.

I deeply fear there was a curse on my favourite TV show...

So damn good.
