I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks the smartwatch is a solution to a problem nobody has. There just isn’t enough real estate to show the information needed. I think flexible displays may eventually make “smart-sleeves” to fix this issue.

Leela from Futurama had it right:

Fantasy writing in general, especially older fantasy writing, is heavily influenced by Tolkien. If you find his writing style a slog (and many do - I fell asleep during the middle of Fellowship of the Ring the first two times I tried to read it), it can make a whole swath of the genre difficult to get through, even

I have the same problem. Pixar good, anime bad. (Miyazaki, perhaps.) But fair is fair — she keeps trying to get me watching shows with laugh tracks. Every now and then, we find a point of real agreement — Up! or The Book of Life; Barney Miller or WKRP in Cincinnati.

I hate to say I just don’t recommend older Scifi shows to people who love contemporary genre shows. I will always think of B5 as some of the best television I’ve ever seen, but I would be hard put to suggest a neo-SciFi fan watch without knowing the could get past the dated FX and 90’s story tropes.

2) A friend who loves Battlestar Galatica and Game of Thrones for their multiple characters, epic world building and fake-world politics. She can’t bring herself to watch Star Trek: Deep Space Nine because she used to make fun of Trekkies in high school. “In the Pale Moonlight” would blow her freaking mind.

Emma of Normandy would make a great series. She was married to a Saxon king and a Norse king of England and had children by both who became kings.

I am saying this as a Mexican:

I did think of that film, but it’s definitely a film of the play, rather than a historic version of the story. There have been some interesting theories on how the lightly armed and outnumbered Brits managed to win. I’d be curious to see that put on screen.

I wish that A.D. show was that - but it’s too religiously inspired to be accurate and honest.

And do so in a gravelly voice

Just as they are written! ;)

Now playing

They could just do something similar to Power Rangers where the actors wear the power suites and then they just use footage from Roughnecks.

I came for this. Varagians FTW

I’d love to see some Varangian Guard action on screen.

The Battle of Midway.
Not just a remake of the 70’s move “Midway” - but a new one using decent CGI (with all the correct aircraft types and the actual ships involved) and WITHOUT some tiring love story backdrop...

Shackleton’s Endurance voyage. So much potential for beautiful scenery and character drama.

I’d love to see Emperor Norton get a real biopic sometime.

The Norman Invasion of England. William the Conqueror, Harold Godwinson, the Battle of Hastings...why hasn’t this been done yet? William being crowned king in Westminster Abbey on Christmas Day 1066 has epic, Oscar-worthy epicness all over it.

I wish I could give you bonus stars for that last sentence.
