Some day they’ll release HD Skyward Sword, with the same motion controls it always had, except you’ll be using motion control technology from 2025 instead of the dinky, inaccurate, awful Wii Remote. Maybe they’ll spruce up the sky overworld a bit, fix one or two of the biggest complaints. And suddenly everyone will

First guy - have you considered online dating? You get to view people’s pictures and profiles and get an idea of who they are before you even attempt to talk to them. I think it’s a much bigger way for people to meet nowadays than a bar - I have never gone out to a bar in my life to try to meet men, ever. But I met my

The core Xenoblade experience is exploring and getting lost in a world, strengthened by world building. But see, this is a quality that’s not traditionally found in JRPGs. It leans western RPG. My experience with Xenoblade was the same with Final Fantasy XII. I loved the deep-dive into the world and put more than 200

Not necessarily? People have preferences, including within genres they typically love. Sometimes a game just doesn’t work for a person, even if most people would say it’s good.

Please Fahey, I would really love to hear your thoughts on it.

For the record I do pretty much agree with what you were/are actually saying, I was specifically addressing the implication in yours and some other comments that Jason’s dislike of the first game was necessarily irrelevant.

A three word sentence telling you I didn’t say what you thought I said is not a “petty response.” A true petty response is something like “We can both play that game.”

Yeah, we’re basically agreeing with each other if you actually look at our initial exchange, but I bruised your ego by telling you not to put words in my mouth so now you’re committed to arguing with me.

Wow, I really pissed you off, huh? It was a simple correction to your comment, no need to white knight for someone else in an effort to defend yourself.

childish taunts don’t reinforce your position.

If other people are the ones saying this, why are you talking to me instead of them about it?

Oh noooo you reminded me that I want to play Golf Story too!!! WHY ARE THERE TOO MANY GAMES TO PLAY? sob

Criticizing that “Everyone gets pissy that Jason didn’t like the first Xenoblade” suggests he thinks that shouldn’t be relevant. It is relevant. I’ll play games with ya all day, sweetie pumpkin pie cupcakes!

Or you could pick this game up for yourself and find out, especially if you have never played either of the previous two games. You might find yourself disagreeing with Schreier and his preference for classic JRPG mechanics from 20 years ago :)

Never said it did.

I’m glad you asked this because that’s immediately what I thought when you mentioned D5 on Twitter but I didn’t wanna be an asshole and start an argument by calling you out on it lmao

The past two games are exactly the same way, so it sounds like they were doing what you do when you have a popular video game series and give your customers what they want and expect from a sequel. The fact that Jason did not like the first game is 100% relevant to his evaluation of the battle system here.

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is an interesting game. If you go back and read the Iwata Asks interview for it, the developers outright state that it was made in response to what the trends were in JRPGs at the time (it was released on the heels of FFXIII). The developers felt that JRPGs were skewing too hard on the story

Now playing

a borderline nonsensical pastiche of ideas and narrative tropes shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s played Final Fantasy mainline titles from XIII onward

oh my... that’s good to know. Is that in-store only or is it also online?
