Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande were apparently not content with just dropping a new single today. In conjuction with…
I may be in the minority but I really don’t mind Mike. I’m willing to give him a chance.
I was left feeling the same way. After the Stripemobile crashed the Injustice Society didn’t track them down and finish them off because... And with all the heroes gone they didn’t take over the world because... Instead they what, started running tire companies?
Well, I don’t know how this is going to work. I don’t subscribe to any streaming services so I’ll have to try watching in the CW app. I might have to just post a day late. I guess we’ll see. Anyway, my usual random thoughts.
The Cosmic Rod/Staff is a jerk. I wonder if its possessed by the soul of Ted Knight? Wait, if I recall, Sylvester Pemberton (one of the best comic book names, ever and portrayed more as a entitled jerk by Joel McHale, something that I didn’t expect but liked) used the Cosmic Rod (y’know, the jokes just write…
She is not exactly resisting it - it dragged her to the bullies being bullies, and she promptly set out to do something about it.
As a big fan of Sky High, all the stuff about being a sidekick and how it’s an honorable status seemed pretty familiar.
I enjoyed it, I figure some of the incomplete nature was more to do with the fact it might not have been clear at that point how DC would release the episodes. I don’t know that it ever is clear but the first season of Titans episodes ended like this to immediately pick up in the next one. Second season the episodes…
Luke Wilson and the lead actress are both very appealing in this. She has a bit of a younger Florence Pugh vibe
I believe that the actress who plays Stargirl mentioned that talks for a Flash/Stargirl crossover are in the works.
I really enjoyed it. It definitely had problems as you mentioned (lack of character definitions, etc) but the joy of Courtney on the staff was really incredible. Moreover, I loved just how comic book-y everything was. Both the characters and the costumes seemed ripped from the comics and the action felt fun and fresh.
Speaking of which, I definitely got some Buffy vibes from this. Which admittedly may just be that I don’t have that many reference points for American high schools. But I don’t think entirely so. The set-up is almost an homage: pretty blonde teenager from Los Angeles reluctantly moves to a rather parochial small(ish)…
I liked it, I like the Earth 2 conceit and the mix of Golden Age with modern technology, it’s how a well written Earth 2 comic book feels. I have concerns about the teeny bopper aspect though, clearly Courtney’s “loser” friends are going to become the Justice Society, which is worrisome. I don’t believe that IJSA…
I loved the pilot. JSA is one of my all time favourite comic series, so seeing all of those Golden Age heroes on screen was thrilling (even though it was short lived, I have a feeling we’ll get some flashbacks along the way).
Luke Wilson could very well be the new Tom Hanks. His “Everyman” is a joy to watch. Add to this the positive male role model once called “being a Dad”, especially being a stepdad, and this show has promise. Luke Wilson alone is enough to watch the show.
I watched this with my 11 year old last night. It was very entertaining. The opening battle was frankly, awesome. My kid went nuts when Brainwave, said, “Grundy...” and Soloman Grundy burst through the door and chased the car.
I normally breeze by these shows, but I stopped and watched. And this one draw me in with a great opening sequence. Then plenty of John Hughes High school Vibes. Gave me genuine tingles too when she stumbles on the secret and starts testing things out. I will be back for more.
Like many of us under stay-at-home orders, James Gunn apparently has some time on his hands: The Suic…
