So many good memories of those days that still stick with me. There are still a bunch I have in my head of magazine features where I imagined what certain things looked like, and I actually remember what my young brain came up with vs. what it actually ended up looking like haha. The most vivid one is the EGM feature

Literally came here to say this. More than any other RE game outside of maybe Code Veronica, the knife was a huge part of my play style. I’d use it in exactly the same way, and it allowed me to have excess ammo to go ham at times when there were several and/or stronger enemies. Plus it was indeed funny to do haha.

Man those were the days, when any info was valuable info, and you actually had to sometimes imagine how a game looked in action until you got a chance to play it!

Street Fighter has always been my #1, but really I just love fighting games haha. Always been a fan of MK lore too; was big into it back in the day.

Yeees I thought it was super obvious she was inspired by Janet (can definitely see Paula Abdul too)! And I totally remember reading that she was Mulata back in the day, but I had forgotten whether it was from an official source. Her and Jago I believe have the same dad who was an American soldier. I’ve always been

Oh snap, Black Orchid, another good one! I remember her ethnicity being a hot topic back in the day because her look is so racially ambiguous. I remember seeing everything from Asian to Latina to African-American, to every mix in between; but as an African-American who was a big fan of her (for obvious teenage boy

Great point about green being more associated with US military garb, and blue being associated visually with British military (though if I’m not mistaken, the British army also wears olive drab right? I’m no expert on this haha).

Not all of us want women to look like teenagers forever haha

The way he was always portrayed was just a Russian wrestler who loved his country and wanted to prove that pro wrestling is strong, but I definitely think that the politics of the times played a significant part in him being seen as bad. It’s a solid point about the movie also having Balrog be a good guy as well, but

I believe I had the same book and might remember the exact concept you’re talking about!

Hahaha so you quote the very last couple sentences of an article about fashion that quickly plugs their latest game and regurgitates one person’s praise of it as they’re signing off, and that’s your smoking gun in your argument that the article is about their games being better than everyone else’s. And I’m the

I’m assuming you didn’t read it, but this is essentially a fashion article, dude. The stunting” they’re referring to is that they have great fashion sense and dress better than other devs haha.

Good point, surprised I didn’t make that connection too, but I guess Cammy’s been low key dealing with some comparisons since her look in Street Fighter II V heavily resembled Sonya haha.

She does rock that tracksuit well in SFV, it’s a pretty nice getup. I do like that the outfits in SFVI generally seem to be a tad more casual, like clothing they’d be more likely to wear in an actual street fight haha.

Same here, he looks a lot more like a powerlifter with functional strength, and not just covered in beach muscles for show haha. I think they’re knocking it out of the park in general with the character redesigns.

I think part of it is just a general aesthetic change that has happened with most of the SF characters over the years. Akiman’s art style was mostly the standard for SFII and he favored wider, often rounder jawlines and softer features.

I’ve been waiting for a Cammy redesign and this is pretty close to what I’d pictured for years. Not that I dislike her classic look, but to me the long pigtails and leotard was such a young look for someone who is now a grown-ass woman haha. Like how they moved Sakura away from the schoolgirl outfit in SFV because

Severely snapping someone’s neck and having them brush it off is pretty much Mortal Kombat territory; it’s not a move that just finishes the fight, it’s a move that kills you. Street Fighter has mostly strayed from using killing techniques with any sort of graphicness (other thanVega using a damn metal claw without

He was never really portrayed in any of the games as a bad guy, just the opposite in fact. The closest to a bad guy he’s been in the games is actually potentially in this game, where there are a lot of hints that this new look is his heel/bad guy persona in wrestling. The mask he’s wearing in the beginning of the

Took me all of a few seconds so I clicked on it thinking “Maybe it’s not Shania Twain” haha. Never really paid any attention to her or her career other than always thinking she was fine as hell, so maybe that gave me an edge in recognizing her face haha.
