i think the leveling mechanic sorta reflects Destiny's design as a whole: cobbling together multiple game genres hoping it works. There's a clear divide in the leveling system, each type of system they use works best for a different type of game design they seem to be aiming for. Like a mixture between FPS shooter

But it is a pointless gimmick. It's not explained, it's tied to gear that is very hard to find, and it forces you to grind even more. Working for gear is one thing Having gamers grind endlessly for a few measly points of light is gimmicky and lazy.

Why you keep playing? Probably works out a bit like this. You wanted a:

I gave up on Destiny after playing about a little over a month. I ended up with a level 29 Warlock and a 26 Hunter. The repetitive nature of Destiny bored me to quit. I enjoyed the gunplay but that wasn't enough to keep me going. The first expansion content reveal also didn't impress me either. Oh, and the loot

Or he could have just left it up and stopped moderating it if that was his beef.

I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense at all. If he wanted a break then just turn off the computer, don't make other people's lives worse just because you couldn't get immediate access to a game with around 8-9 million players on launch of a major expansion.

You're awful. The puppet holds up way better than the CG does.

Yeah, I agree. I dont think there is a way to protest that would get blizz engineers to work harder on servers. I would say stop playing for a few days... but that would just mean less work for the engineers.

WoW Disaster Report

Off topic, but it's kinda jarring to constantly be hit with the Warlords of Draenor trailer ad for articles. Blizzard, it's tacky to stick your ads everywhere when the game is all but unplayable at the moment.

Nitesmoke's response? "It will be back the moment I am able to log into WoW. That is the fact of the matter and everyone's opinion on me is irrelevent."

Very nicely done. I was impressed by how the trailer held back on showing some of the more obvious "epic" sequences, like the Hoth battle and asteroid chase, in favor of the "Skywalker" story arc. Also I was struck by how the sheer grandeur and beauty of the spaceship sequences were brought to the foreground by a

Ah, a mature and intelligent response to an annoyance. How refreshing.

Great homage to Empire. Sigh. I wish all Star Wars movies could have been that great.

Now playing

"using of all the most exciting footage, regardless of what it spoils"

Aside from the obvious spoilers, it just feels wrong without the John Williams scoring it. The entire thing comes off feeling cheap.

Pretty cool, except Empire wasn't "A George Lucas Film" as this trailer has it.

I've tried to explain it so many ways, but I think I can distill what is being said above. There are two AI's: The "AI" that computer scientists work on constantly and the "AI" that only exists in the lay person's mind or popular culture. The "AI" in popular culture is a threat. The AI that computer scientists work
