Except my argument has not tried to justify anything or argue any moral or ethical point. Only that legally theft and Copyright Infringement are different violations. Whether you like it or not, my arguments are based on things said by judges. Pretending that my argument is about justifying anything doesn’t help…

it’s a completely different violation. Way back in the day, when the **AA was suing everyone, the judge in the case even cautioned the *AA lawyer to stop referring to copyright infringement as theft. you may want it to be the same thing, but illegally copying a film and stealing a film are two very different things.

It’s not myopic to point out that you are comparing two different things. Copyright Infringement is not Theft, plain and simple. It’s about as bad as if i compared using the company xerox machine for personal use to stealing a printer and taking it home. yes both are ethically questionable, but they are very different…
