No, but it does add up.
No, but it does add up.
Thank you, so much, for this article. I’m one of those black nerds who comes to Kotaku often to escape the absolute insanity of the country I live in, but I’m also one of those black citizens desperately searching for some way to make some kind of difference in the world. I want to do SOMETHING to improve this, but…
I really liked this article. I think it’s hugely important to here this from a video game reporter. It shows how widespread and long lasting the problem is and how we can’t just escape racism with entertainment all the time.
Now to wait for the “I’m not a racist but” burners and comments who’ll bang on about the 1st even though they clearly have no fucking idea what it actually means.
Antifa started around the Berkeley riots at the University last year. We need people like them on the front lines, fuck these white racist assholes.
Seriously. One of my kids asked about it so my husband and I looked it up. We were like....well, I guess this means our family is “antifa”?
I wouldn’t trust people not to throw the match on purpose if they were on the “fake” team mayo in a system like that.
Agreed with everything you said, especially with not having to wait in lobbies and getting the snails.
Splatfests are fair. The development team that created splatfests and the nintendo staff that reviews it as well as all the testers who played it all have common sense and did not come up with your imaginary “rigged contest” conclusion. If you know anything about math and creating a competitive point system in…
I’m not sure why people devolve into entitled children as soon as they “lose” a meaningless contest that was supposed to be a silly fun thing to partake in, but there you have it.
The complaints make no sense. Mayo won more matches when playing against ketchup. The popularty metric is taken into account with the voting, and the rest is up to performance in games that matter. I don’t understand what’s unfair. Just a bunch of crybabies complaining that they lost. Play better if you want to win.
So, I don’t get why people are mad...
I never said it was rigged for the less popular team to win. I said it was designed to give an underdog a chance. Learn to read, dude.
I’m willing to bet that only Ketchup players are calling shenanigans, which would explain a lot of the crybaby attitude.
I created an account just to come thank you for this reasonable post.
Well clearly you’re just a mayo chill. /s
This “problem” arises mostly because one choice is so much more popular than the other. If you had chosen Team Mayo, you would have been in near-constant matches against Ketchup, and felt the result was appropriate because popularity vote aside, the actual battle tallies were near 50/50 on both Solo and Team, but Mayo…
Sooner or later Nintendo’s gonna do Squid Sisters VS Off the Hook as a Splatfest. The internet will be eaten alive.
I can’t star this enough. There is NOTHING wrong with Pearl. Only people who can only value a female character based on their level of sexual attraction to them.
addendum: despite all of this, i feel like the true winners of splatfest were furries. i swear, 95% of my lobby were furry drawings, even on the day-of.
