That is a fair argument. I think that Burton managed to hit Dahl’s satire about the kids better than the original, but Depp is just cringeworthy whereas Wilder was iconic. If there were a magic world where we could combine those two (and drop the stupid Wonka backstory), it could have been perfect.
While it’s okay to be sad about this, it’s important to remember that both members of Daft Punk still love you very much, and that you’ll always be their number one guy.

Probably nostalgia, but I prefer the original. Some nice songs withstanding, it does take a little too long to get to the factory, but Wilder’s performance and the 71 factory are much more entertaining and less sensational.
