‘”We’re going to make all MY dreams come true...”’

Kind of interesting how many “classic” shows got that reputation long after they originally aired. Why not reboot The Beverly Hillbillies? That shit lasted nine seasons and had better ratings in its first couple seasons.

Theme song’s already set, unless they use it for the mandatory dance scene.

ALL HAIL DUKE. DUKE IS LIFE.

And don’t forget: pigeons are attracted to the sound of his voice...

I haven’t seen the episode in probably 20 years but I can still hear the UN guy saying “A flaming horse’s patoot!”

Stil one of the great reaction videos to keep around in your back pocket.

I have never been bored by a Corman film and have always been entertained by them.

And some of the indirect influences are amazing too. There was a 1980's renaissance in Disney animation and several Broadway musicals that might have never happened if Ashman and Mencken hadn’t composed a musical version of Little Shop of Horrors.

The best comment I’ve seen anybody make about this is “Roger Corman’s funeral will be on time, under budget, and have enough extra footage for three more funerals.”

I’m not sure if RTD doing a huge fart joke right away is ...just him getting it out of his system.

I just spent the last hour chatting with an Archibald Prize-winner, talking about the analogue is making a return, about how the artist’s individuality is in every individual brushstroke, about how the tactility and tangibility of art is something that cannot be effectively clone and copy-pasted into ones and zeros,

The best movie ever (Jaws) and best horror movie ever (TCM) are both in the day and man are they so great. Bruce and leatherface didn’t need the dark to scare people!

I’m still a fan of the old school Who (my doctor will always be #5), but it’s hard to watch some of the old serials because they are too plodding. For ever classic, there are three or four serials that will put you to sleep. I think there is a balance to be struck between room-to-breathe and freight train, but given

Gotta admit- I fucking hate slideshows, but I loved this one. :) I disagree with your placement of the Ouija board in the top ten at all; since those are things that we grow up messing with it stands to reason your guard might be lowered. I might mess with a Ouija board. But a disembodied corpse hand that seems to

Important, yes, readable in only the most technical sense. Like most anthologies, it’s very uneven.  No non-specialist would ever crack the Book of Numbers if they didn’t believe god wrote it.

I agree with you

I am an atheist and am excited to learn that, apparently, it now qualifies me as an “edgelord” as well. I also got whiplash from the way this article seemed to keep pivoting back and forth on whether the author thought it was the worst take, a legit take, a weird take, etc.

Yup. I’m on board with the MST3K mantra, and my general opinion about Simpson timeline craziness:

That’s not AV Club’s fault; it’s The Simpsons playing with their timelines since they’ve been on for 4 decades. See also: Marge and Homer retconned as growing up the 90's now.
