I have received many responses to the affirmative that it’s worth playing. Thanks!

Excited to watch what silly things people can make this game do. Homing briefcase forever.

Fuck The Times. Nobody there knows shit about games - their last big story about CDPR said reviewers usually have “months” to play through review copies. They have no clue what’s going on. And lol amazing that it’s on the front page. Nothing else going on!
lol alright see everybody later then
Double XP this week is both gross and inscrutable. Huh
That Division 2 one is really great. Spiderman ones are always good. Was happy to see Shadow of War because the first one has a good photo mode and I have a few good ones but it’s also kinda hard to make that game pretty.
I think in this case it’s the reporter holding them accountable. Was saying that in a “yay, go Jason!” way. Yes, on your individual level there is not a ton a consumer can do besides not buy it.
Reminds me of the people who are like “it ran fine on my PS4 so it must be no biggie.” They took it down from the store! CDPR forums must be rough right now.
the engine frequently used for games as a service, if you’ll pardon my shorthand. It does appear to be used for other things. You’ll agree engines are better at certain things, though, right? iirc there was much trouble making Mass Effect on Frostbite. Will not pretend to be an expert but I have a level of…
I had one specific exchange with somebody who felt the whole report was unnecessary that frustrated me and saw similar other comments.
Yeah I think from Kotaku’s perspective maybe they think it’s the most “clickable” part of the report. I hope people read the whole thing.
There’s plenty interesting in there - that devs thought the game couldn’t come out before 2022, or that the logic of the executives was literally “oh well Witcher 3 worked out.” To some extent Bloomberg stifles that interesting stuff because they limit their pieces to around 2000 words (Jason says this on Twitter). If…
Lots of other insightful and interesting stuff in Schreier’s piece if you read it.
Unionization has become a much bigger topic at E3 in the past two years than before. Again, I think it’s sad that you imagine these realities are somehow unchangeable, and that reporting them to people who don’t work in AAA development (the vast majority of anybody who plays games) is somehow useless. Bye!
This was mostly an initial joke response about the headline - I know it somewhat contradicts my other responses here. The full report by Jason is good and full of detail and people should read it. That development started in 2016 is the most click-worthy part and a fair headline but probably the least interesting part…
What can actually help and is in the process of happening (and reported on this very website!) is game dev unionization. Additionally, lots of abusive people have been removed from prominent positions - like many at Ubisoft and the composer for Elder Scrolls. Many companies are now founded with an emphasis on worker…
Frankly astonished by some of the responses here dismissing this as stuff they “already knew” or that it’s unnecessary. How brainwashed are you that your first response to a report about CDPR treating their people like shit is “eh, I already knew that”? How can it be anything but good that these assholes are getting…
Yes!
He’s done stories like this for Rockstar (RDR2) and Naughty Dog, too? Him exposing this stuff can only help. And how did you come to realize all those things were “common sense”? Probably from developers or reporters like Schreier speaking out.
