Didn’t realize how colonialist those movies are until I talked to non-Americans about those movies in college. The opening scene of Raiders aged real bad. Indy eventually realizes this, too, in Holy Grail, that he doesn’t have a right to take this stuff.

For marketing yeah probably, specifically to that commenter’s point. But I think it was worthy of the pedantry, because it annoys me that people think CDPR made a new IP.

I have no idea and have never really thought it through. I just think it would be fun to walk around Castle Black.

Understand where you’re coming from, especially the Hollywood comparison. Didn’t consider this angle when these announcements dropped and I’m glad you wrote it out. It is nice that big AAA games still are often new IP, one only needs to compare to big-budget Hollywood to understand how exceptional that actually is in

Cyberpunk isn’t a new IP

Fucking amazing. Gotta clear your shit out if you’re gonna stick your phone on screen for the world, my man.

Smash Bros made platform fighters a thing. That was 20 years ago, but I’d call it a formula change.

lol didn’t they say the same thing when cyberpunk was announced? aight bub.

You don’t have to galaxy-brain argue the transparent fact that buying the game based on the author’s franchise will benefit the author.

Ah, I didn’t know that. The linked Ubisoft article does say that it will be directed by the person who directed The Division. My money is still on it being multiplayer.

Glad it’s not just EA. Concerned that it’s being made on a games as a service engine. Doesn’t sound like a singleplayer open world game that I’d personally be interested in.

In what world do they have free DLC ready at launch when the base game itself was this busted?

The empty bad faith stuff reminds me of this great Gawker essay -

So brave. Love to stop supporting assholes after they’ve shown their true colors (which were always apparent) and they’ve already helped me. Noble.

Won’t it just fog up?

Dear Ash,

I can remember when it would be out of character for Bethesda to announce something seemingly so early in development. Guess that kinda changed the past 1 or 2 E3s.

It looked like an Odyssey-style world. Missed 3D World on Wii U, so I’m amped to get into this when it drops.

I didn’t realize how much I liked the triple jump until Mario didn’t have it in 3D Land. Man, that was weird.

Chris Person still does new ones on Youtube! Quality is just as good as it was.
