Yeah, fuck this guy, male tears amirite????? They're all evil!!

Sorry, you were just the last one replying on that tangent, and it's just annoying that there are people out there that really believe "the NSA must be listening to them so if the person isn't found they must be allowing him to get away" type of idea.

No, that's complete bullshit. If she was aware of his abusive past beforehand, then it's a fair question to ask why she wanted to be in a relationship with him in the first place, but the only person accountable for beating her nearly to death is him.

No, it's because it doesn't fucking work like that. Conspiracy theories aside.

I remember standing on my balcony as a kid in Los Angeles in the early 90s looking at the fires all over town from the riots after the Rodney King verdict. There is no excuse for rioting a and looting. It doesn't help anything. And yet, Langston Hughes put it best to help understand how a disenfranchised people

When you contribute to a culture that sees young black men as inherently dangerous, and that culture produces a constant stream of scenarios like this where young black men are shot dead by the police, or those who try to act like police, then yeah, its putting those young men in danger.

People generally don't respond well to racist insinuations...go figure.

Agreed. Much of the Jezebel community, and its staff, propagates the very culture that sees black men as intrinsically dangerous, and justifies a shoot first ask questions maybe never mentality. So I have to look at the treatment here very skeptically, when many of the same people commenting express one view here, and

Funny, I made the same point and it went right over the racist asshole's head. It's not worth dealing with people like that. Their spiteful smugness is only outmatched by their ignorance.

In an article about gay men accepting each other's back hair, women come in to assert what gets them off.

Well said. Anyone here playing the oppression Olympics isn't even in the running against the vast majority of the rest of the world.

That's completely irrelevant to your comment, and my own.

Nearly 1 in 3 young black men are in prison, much of that for non-violent drug related crimes, and you can shoot them dead and claim self defense and walk away.

I actually felt silly for asking as soon as I posted. Of course there's a market for this stuff and of course people find enjoyment in it. You're right, I just don't see it myself. I read sex passages in novels and I find them either annoying or laughable. But that just means it's not my thing.

Haha, well played.

No, it's a pretty fundamental tenet of development economics.

A failure to grasp reality is what fuels mens rights movements. That's not to say there aren't radical feminists out there for them to point to, who do undermine their (fem own purported goals, but men's rights movements are even more deluded because there is no systemic effort to remove or withold rights from men.

I like to think of it as the Batman complex. People want to believe they're some kind of superhero. So they need villians. And they assume those villians must be black men.

Of course it's not vindication. And had he killed a young black man, I've no doubt the sentence would have been different because many people can't get past the idea tht their very presence is a threat, and people would have much more readily bought the notion that he feaed for his life.

UGH, what a clusterfuck.
