As I mention downthread somewhere, I briefly hoped the filmmakers would capitalize on the role-reversal subtext, exploiting the irony of Iraq/Afghan veterans adopting the tactics of insurgents. That might have given this film some bite.

I kinda hoped the film might subtextually center itself on the wars of the past decade, with returned soldiers forced to embrace the once-reviled methods of insurgency. A "Not So Different" subtext forced by the reversal of American fortunes. All dressed up in the standard Eagleland tropes. Oh well.

Casting was not the problem with this film.

The distance was no more than 200 yards. An M4 is very accurate out to 500 yards.

The Schmidt story is giving me déjà vu. Doesn't anyone else remember his confused flirtation with his boss in season one? They've changed actresses, but the boss character and the mechanics of the relationship seem awfully similar.
