I agree that these are potentially interesting aspects of the character, but we still need an "in."  Gary also has a bit of a sociopathy, but his goofiness and childish vulnerability give us an "in".  We don't have a strong sense for who Nina is, outside of her relationship with Hicks and her expensive tastes.  I hope

The way they shrugged it off seemed strange.  A dude died.  And I don't recall anyone mentioning a change of venue.  I began to think the lab guys had killed the victim and staged the acid damage to point the finger at acid dude.

As much as I winced at Jon and Rachel's rushed meet-cute, it's nice to have a sympathetic "normal" on the team other than Rosen.  Rosen needs to build some bridges if he wants to present a viable alternative to Stanton's future.

Stanton is clearly trying to condition Rosen - perhaps to convert him, as he suggests to Dani.  Most egoists believe that if they are merely understood, people will come to see things their way.

There never was an explanation for the cut where victim-of-the-week went flying off a building.

Nina is difficult to sympathize with because she is a sociopath - hijacking people's lives for her vanity. Remove the vanity aspect and reorient the character around her need for control; around her difficulty in distinguishing between normal interactions and "pushed" interactions; around good intentions leading to
