MORE JUDAH WAS ALL I NEEDED
I loved that was kind of a sequel to s2's “After the Party”, but keeping the main characters confined to one space instead of splitting them all off into their individual stories. things are about to get really dark so there’s nothing wrong with a high-energy, slapstick episode like this
I’m always mixed on the Diane-centric episodes, because I think she’s one of the best characters on the show and has so much potential to be both funny and emotionally devastating in the same way as Bojack, but the writers tend to centre episodes around a ‘topical issue’ every time which doesn’t give the character…
I agree that that’s probably the best relationship on the show, and Princess Carolyn has been my favourite character since around “Best Thing That Ever Happened” (a top 3 episode of the whole run for my money). the fact that she has such a clear path to happiness but won’t allow herself to go on it is often sadder…
I love how thoughtfully they built on the ending to the graphic novel while completely deconstructing the weird myth people still have of Rorschach as some kind of hero
for sure, and I’d understand that impulse. I took the s4 only as a small moment of redemption for a character that had largely been on a downward spiral - it was clearly never meant to be a “yay Bojack’s fixed!” moment but more of a “yay, Bojack might one day start taking real steps towards addressing his issues!”. Cla…
I didn’t love s5 of the show - although I’m watching it again right now in preparation so I hope I find some gems in there I didn’t catch the first time around. it pains me to say, because at its height I think this is one of the greatest shows on offer, but it felt a bit directionless and confused and having Bojack…
daaamn Bojangles you got served
oh yeah, this whole series was legitimately goddamn unnerving. Fastest Route was the outright scariest but something about the Moon one really stayed with me.
yeah, that all makes a lot of sense, and the hallucination he had of his mum and Young Elliott in the s1 finale - saying “we’ll always be with you” makes a lot of sense that way
wish I liked this more, but “Dear April” sounds like that Frank I need, so I’m reserving judgement for now
man, classic Esmail to drop an absolute bomb on us last week and then not even acknowledge it happened this week, lmao. wonder if we’ll find out Elliott’s forgotten about the third personality sometime this season? or was he legitimately just too busy this week?
to be fair, pretty sure all of this works better if you look like Rami Malek
you’re welcome! I’m glad I wasn’t alone in mishearing it, I got dragged when I told some real life friends what I thought the line was!
I heard blink-182's “All the Small Things” as ‘my little bit nil’ instead of ‘my little windmill’ for around 21 straight years. in my defense, the song is not exactly a lyrical magnum opus and Tom DeLonge’s accent is not from our planet, so I pretty much wrote it off as just some stuff he sang to fill in the line.
fantastic episode - this is the format this show really excels at, imo. the big twists and swerves are all fine and good, but everytime this show just locks its characters in a room together and does a bottle episode they hit it out of the damn park. I think my favourite half-hour of The Good Place is actually “Janet…
she was so great in Undone - as was the whole cast, even if I have my fair share of misgivings about how that show ended. but the instant chemistry between all the actors and especially the family was amazing.
that bit and the old lady dumping her dead dog on Janis’s desk were highlights of the episode. Irving may be gone (not forgotten) but at least they haven’t forgotten the comedy
I meant exactly what I typed, thanks for looking out for me though!
still the best “gif/jif” pronunciation joke of all time
