as a counterpoint, The National have at least stayed consistently good while Wilco peaked so hard in the 90s that it’s questionable why they even went on afterwards

I love his delivery of that line, almost as much as his reaction to Steve saying they’ll drink the schnapps tomorrow. “I don’t have an operation tomorrow, I’ll drink it now!”
Idris Elba does really great work in these films, and Heimdall has a very nice (and understated) character arc which takes him from this cold and removed figure in Thor 1 to someone you really mourn for when he dies in Infinity War because he’s built a genuine friendship with Thor
even with the Zelda scenes being the best (and scariest) part of the new remake, the filmmakers still can’t resist using her as a cliche, having her drop into sight like a jumpscare or making dumb waiters drip with blood for some vaguely spooky nonsense. it’s a shame that they couldn’t carry through their interesting…
or Mack Ghost Rider dropping in and just choking Thanos to death and disappearing without explaining anything about his character or who he is
I would happily mark Spider-Verse as the best ever film made from a comic book.
I was trying to hint it, but I’ll just come outright and say Beady Eye are fucking awful. that seven-minute song called “Don’t Brother Me” or whatever is genuinely, truly one of the worst pieces of music I’ve ever heard.
he’s an absolute force of nature on those early albums, especially Be Here Now and Morning Glory/The Masterplan. but I’ve liked Noel’s sweeter, fuller, more Beatles-y voice a lot more since then and Liam just sounds tired
yeah I thought it was pretty obvious at this point that Liam has no real musical talent other than his voice, which was shot to shit after the 90s anyway, and pretty much all the talent actually come from Noel. just compare the massive quality gap between their post-Oasis projects for proof
you must not have heard Is This Thing Cursed which was their best since Good Mourning
she has a truly incredible voice when she belts it out, like the end of “My City” on the BOCC album
this artist is new to me but the last two minutes of Movies are some of the most beautiful shit I have ever heard, thank you for this
Tenement, The Wonder Years, The Menzingers, The Lawrence Arms, early Alkaline Trio are my cream of the crop
the killer cast is my main takeaway from rewatching that movie over the weekend. I knew it was good, but like, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage (for like five minutes), Toby Jones and Hugo Weaving? that movie is fucking stacked
seeing Happy Hogan dramatically staring off in a poster this serious made me laugh uncontrollably
I’m pretty fatigued with the market in general but I’ll always make time for Agents of SHIELD, which has just shown a remarkable dedication to improving itself constantly no matter how many budget cuts get thrown at it
in fairness, that wasn’t really entirely up to Lynch. he wanted to go and direct Wild at Heart, and the network wanted a definitive and clear killer reveal for BOB as well as a 21-episode season for, well, whatever reason. the combination of those plus there not really being a clear way to get from the BOB reveal to…
Coined and minted!
“a quarter of shirtless men slamming gleefully into each other”
Interesting that this episode had almost the exact same character pairings as last week - Jake/Amy in the A-plot and Boyle/Holt/Terry in the B-plot, the only real difference being that Rosa switched plots. I don’t think we’ve ever had two weeks like that in the history of the show
