Well.... the suspension wouldnt look out of place in an early 00s ford, that rear setup looks like it would have pretty terrible hub control with hardly any camber control and the front... ehhh single balljoint LCAs with a strut, im not seeing these as impressive from a handling front.

14? how heavy on the pedal are you I just drove one for a week (with a 3.73 even!) and managed 20mpg in mixed driving.

Are you blind? They are both low slung mid engined modern sports cars other than that, legitimately no similarities.

Just something to note, that 5600lb pulling force is much different than just pulling 5600lbs. That sled probably simulates something like 25000lbs of weight behind the truck on a normal trailer.

US standards are pretty different and on top of it we get all of the CARB (california and other “green state”) standards that are additional to EPA. The big thing is our technical grams/mi of emissions are allowed to be higher (if you convert everything) than the latest EURO6 standards but what many people don’t

Not exactly hydrocarbons are still a big issue especailly on cold driveaway which is much more aggressive on the US cyle, trust me this is coming from an emissions calibration engineer. Normally you need a higher loading or higher cell count (finer mesh) catalyst to pass US emissions or end up facing some funky

Or if you know.... Fiat actually knows how to calibrate the engine it will advance and retard spark as neccisary for fuels. I dont know about Fiat but most modern Fords can handle anything between 90RON and 98RON with the power varying accordingly. They could have easily pulled the *rated on 93 that a bunch of cars do

I guess thats true lincoln has by in large been churning out crap for 20 years whereas volvo has made some decent stuff. I guess just straight comparo though is more what I was talking about.

Gotta love how a FWD based continental on jalopnik gets trashed but a FWD based 80k volvo gets “OMG WHERE CAN I SIGN I LUV IT”.

True, that could come into play, I feel like it wouldnt have THAT significant of an effect on it though, overheating a trans in 3min of hard driving is a “there is something physically wrong” kind of issue. I am guessing a trans overfill or something.

As opposed to what? a better ATF? I don’t get what you are trying to say here, I highly doubt the people he is talking about that were running somthing other than the stock ATF.

Thats interesting, I had never heard that argument against the closed canopy before, and that does makes sense. I have never followed F1 that closely as I have always preferred sports car racing, and I find the lack of closed canopies ridiculous in F1 in this day and age. I still think that there HAS to be some way to

Hmm interesting... I have to think there was some issue with the vehicle because spending time on the Mustang6g forums you see plenty of guys running autos on track without issue.

I might be alone in this...... but I think I like the old one better? This one seems to almost have a lil tiny SUV face on it (I think its the headlights) which looks out of place.

Oh ok.... wow you are an unpleasant person. Even if they were fudging numbers (which we are not) people like me would be seeing the real numbers..... in terms of emissions with carbs you are wrong. Do you think modern DI is cheaper or more expensive than a carb? If car companies could do what they needed to with carbs

Ok... do you believe the car companies/engineers that are doing the testing themselves for development? Because that’s part of what I do for a living and trust me you are wrong.

What do you mean, yeah... the EPA is a reliable resource of car emissions levels. And also the cold start is EXTREMELY important most of your emissions come from cold start due to the catalysts not being lit off yet. Having that control over fueling on cold start is the only way to meet modern emissions standards

pretty much the same as any electronically adjustable damper aka the same as a normal strut +one wire/connector. Probably a bit pricier but honestly... I don’t think its going to have that high of a rate of failure. This stuff isn’t much different than what is currently on the market.

I would argue that even in the s197 the 4.6 still sounded distinctly like a mod motor. The main issue with the 5.0 cars is that the coyote has a different firing order than the older mod motors and sounds inherently different.
