He was a great pitcher and a horrible human being. The latter prevents him from being inducted into the Hall and I’m just fine with that.

The thing that bums me out is that I think Schilling was a great pitcher who, on performance alone, deserves to be in the Hall of Fame (ditto Barry Bonds). Though perhaps it’s best to do a posthumous induction. 

Since he retired from baseball, Schilling hasn’t done anything that would suggest he’d be a capable member of society, let alone Congress.
