When Mike Bloomberg was trying to get the Summer games for NYC (2012?), I’m convinced that popular opinion was at least 95% against it.  Never saw any stories to that effect in the local media though.

My wife’s closest friend and her family left the NY area for the RDU area a few years ago, constantly painting it as the most wonderful place on earth, and anyone who didn’t go there was a fool.

Mussina could’ve easily hung around for a few seasons as a .500 pitcher and gotten to 300 wins and made the HOF while also making tens of millions more dollars. Hard to see why he retired when he did but it’s his life.
