I don’t know if you meant “weary” or “wary” of men these days but frankly I am both.
just yesterday I was having a conversation with my closest male friend. He is a huge supporter of womens’ rights and loudly denounces men like Louis C.K. on social media.
I never commented about it, but I was perfectly content to see the “confusion” around the reporting (ie. Kirkman reversing on her statements, in retrospect for pretty obvious reasons) rather than consigning CK’s work to the trash like I should have.
White men are considered the mainstream of the mainstream and anything even slightly abrasive from someone who is not in the mainstream is treated as radical even if it’s common sense. The mainstream only accepts it as common sense when someone from their group deigns to articulate it.
I hope we can give people the benefit of a doubt before we rush to judgment
It’s like when Lindy West talked about rape jokes, essentially saying that as long as the joke is on rape culture and not the victims of rape they are fine. She got a lot of rape and death threats. Then Patton Oswalt said the same thing and people are like “So brave, let’s listen to him.”
The power I had over these women is that they admired me.
Piven hit on a friend of mine when she was 15. He would’ve been in his 30's then. I call bullshit.
Fuck this fuck stick. He assaulted my friend at a party. She was a model so he figured he had the right somehow. Everyone knows he’s a piece of shit.
I’m surprised that there haven’t been, oh, 100 women coming forward with Piven sexual assault allegations. He’s obviously such an entitled, smug, POS douchebag.
Piven also has a reputation of being a total shit to work with. He doesn’t realize how the democritization of content creation has made the cultural capital of actors lower than ever. He is easily replaceable.
It’s the height of hypocrisy to accuse victims of ruining the careers of the people being accused.
I vaguely remember the divorce being ugly, even by “ugly divorce” standards, but I had no idea what all she went through, and how much she’s done to help her chuldren’s siblings.
The real question is who ELSE? Martin Sheen? Feldman’s accounts always implicate an entire pedophile RING that is propped up by many power players, not just one loser (Charlie Sheen).
Yeah, me too. I thought he only abused women or girls.
i actually feel like she addressed this in her comment- women hire better humans. so more women bosses = fewer asshole employees.
Yes, Charlie. Raped a 13-year-old when he was 19, has sent multiple sex partners to the hospital, among other things. He was so bad that even Heidi Fleiss, a friend of his, blacklisted him from her escort agency.
