Im not sure japan (not known for its progressivism) taking a world populated entirely with animal pilots only and plopping in a black person in that world as if they are interchangeable is the progressive message you think it is. They’re literally categorizing black people as they do animals.  Correct me if there is

And we’d all be able to see again instead of being blinded by others.

Whew, thanks! I was about to trust the word of this lighting expert, but then What-a-witty-name came along and saved me!

Fauci has been in his position since 1984. What fucking “institutional climbing” do you think he’s trying to do?

for assholes who install off-road only LED/HID I use these cannons. Works perfectly to blind them.

I reject that factoid, Romeo. My ‘18 Stinger’s LED lights do not impart those issues in rain and snow.

You’re still ignoring the optics (lens/reflector) and you CAN’T DO THAT. it doesn’t matter how star-spangled awesome an LED is if you pair it with the wrong optics.

there’s no “non-asinine” way to use LEDs in a reflector or projector that is designed around a filament light source. it is currently impossible to use LEDs to emit light in the same way as a halogen filament. just like how an out of focus camera takes a blurry picture, the focal point is not in the correct spot or

Can we all just agree that we should be legally obligated to take a Louisville slugger to the headlamps of any ten year old pickup with LED bulbs? Seems obvious. Don’t even get me started on those trashy looking LED light bars that deliberately blind everybody, or those aftermarket tail lamps that don’t blink properly.

Stern explains this. It’s not that they light everything better. It’s that they’re impossible to aim correctly because they’re shaped differently than what the housing was designed for, and they light up the wrong things.

The LED headlights in my 2019 Tiguan were mediocre. The ones in my 2016 535i are pretty good.

Good article. Even OEM lights from automakers can fail to pass muster, or be better or worse. For about four months (until I got sick of it), I had a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL Premum 4MOTION. On the current-generation Tiguan, which began in MY2018, only the top couple of trims included the LED headlights.

Stern doesn’t live in the real world, though. He lives in a lab.

in the damn article he says WHY you aren’t really a good judge of whether you can “see better.” You’re just doing that knee-jerk “I don’t want to admit I was wrong so I’ll find whatever boneheaded justification I can to pretend I’m right.”

Having had a couple vehicles with LED factory headlights...they are much easier on the eyes at night and don’t annoy oncoming cars.

And once again, the internet ignores the expert and makes its own opinion.

To me people who retrofit LED headlights on older cars says to me, “I want a newer car but can’t afford a new one so I going to blind everyone else with my douche bag headlights.”

I predict at least half of the comments here will be
