This is what I'm hoping the show is, everybody loves character torture and this is the perfect setting for that.

Hey, cool, I was quoted in a follow-up article/comment thing! Can I get on O-Deck now?
Yeah, Jack Kirby does make me angry. Like I said before, I think that first appearance of Funky Flashman was one of the most un-classy things I've ever seen in the comics profession. That single extraordinary act of malice has reduced him, in my perception, to nothing more than a petty, jealous whiner. And like I…
Lee may or may not have hogged the spotlight, but I've never seen any actual evidence that he hogged the credit. He was always highly complimentary of both Kirby and Ditko (again, even after the Funky Flashman nonsense), and has referred to Kirby as the co-creator of the Fantastic Four and other heroes, in at least…
What if this whole show takes place in an alternate universe where Gordon does succeed and Batman actually isn't needed and therefore never comes to be?
Who doesn't want to watch a show where the good people are punished for doing what's right and things get progressively worse? You just can't get more gritty and real than this.
Edited to add: I also hope that all creations must be attributed to Kirby/Lee instead of Lee/Kirby for all eternity.
So many seasons of Buffy are our heroes constantly winning minor battles, but losing the overall war. Same with BSG, Heroes (S1, the only season)... Heck, pretty much every good show.
Unless of course the city just gets a little better for a little while, then a lot worse, then a little better then around Bruce's 20s it gets a LOT worse because suddenly everything in the house of cards that Bullock and Gordon created just collapses.
I hope that it includes a "created by" byline in the movies, at the least. I feel like comics readers already know Kirby and give him his credit.
While I do not particularly like Kirby's "style" (yes, heresy, I know), he was undeniably a creative genius.
And so we reach the ultimate problem with Gotham. We can't have Jim Gordon solving all of Batman's foe's crimes, decades before Batman can solve them. It defeats the purpose of Batman.
They should both be right, and both be wrong, the way it works in real life and in good stories.
I think the 'Superman acknowledges his mistakes' story sounds a lot better, though.
I'm convinced that Man of Steel was written to get the audience to resent Superman so we'll cheer when Batman somehow lands a decisive court victory in Batman V. Superman.
The term 'collateral damage' caused some confusion for me and a friend of mine that were arguing about Man of Steel.
I remembered because I was just reading about Steven Hill leaving the set of Mission: Impossible before sundown on Fridays. Ah, geekdom.

If io9 follows me, will that give me access to post on O-Deck? I'd really like to do that; I think I have some interesting and unique perspectives to contribute.
My reason for wanting to help is that I have a vain aspiration of possibly getting a job with io9 some day, so this seems like as good a way as any to prove that I can be responsible and so forth. If that's not too selfish for ya, then sign me up!
